Oatcake goalkeeper hysteria is absolutely peaking with this. Well done to the bloke for stepping in and putting in a bog-standard 6/10 performance. But of course on here he’s Buffon and Schmeichel rolled into one because tribalism. Signing one, if not two, Championship-standard goalkeepers quite obviously remains an urgent priority 6/10…..oh dear, Just get out of that corner you’ve put yourself in and give him some credit Nobody is saying he’s Buffon and nobody is saying we don’t need a replacement in January but it’s not his fault he’s thrust into pole position but at least have the grace to give him some credit and not that 6/10 bog standard bollocks yeah This. Comfortably 8/10 Had lots of pressure to deal with. Made two or three excellent stops.

People are talking about January “and beyond”. It’s absolutely not his fault and I fully support him while he has to fill in. Yesterday he made a couple of good saves, dealt with what he had to and flapped a couple of times. 6/10 You don’t fully support him, this is a direct quote from you on Friday: Can people stop with this contrarian “things aren’t that bad” bullshit for a minute?? This is about as catastrophic a thing that could happen to the squad as possible. Bonham is absolutely 100% garbage, no apologies, and shouldn’t be anywhere near even the bench of a team in this division. We’re completely fucked.

Looking at the highlights, I thought he was fine, positioning pretty good and saved what he could. A clean sheet is as much as you can ask. Lets give the guy some support ultimately we all win from him feeling a bit more at ease, have we not all experienced anxiety from our jobs and roles at some point as opportunities arise? Go grab the chance Jack

I am quite enjoying the absence of certain poster(s) on this thread, it took Jack Bonham to finally shut them up.
Jack had 1 of his best games for Stoke, easily. He is obviously not the future, but he is the here and now and I was happy for him to be number 2 at the start of the season and if he can continue like this, very happy for him to deputise. Well done!
The same applies to McNally and Rose, who get stick every single time they play, yet along with Bonham, between them have played the last 3, won the last 3 and conceded 1. Maybe they are just not as bad as (some) people think....

He was excellent y'day. Hope he keeps it up and we don't need to continue looking for a number 1. Well played Jack.

He did realy well yesterday, but he has too many mistakes in him to be No1.
We realy do have to get a better keeper in Jan.

I wish Bonham well. I'll get behind him every time he pulls on a Stoke shirt - it would be weird for a fan to do anything else.
But the reality is that he was signed from a third division club to be our third-choice goalie two years ago, and it's only by a combination of accident, injuries and pure chance that he's ended up being our number one in a few different spells here.
He hasn't consistently impressed in any of those spells so far and that is ultimately why we moved to sign a undisputed number 1 this summer. If Neil thought Bonham was good enough to be our first-choice goalie long-term, Travers would never have been signed to begin with.
It's a bit silly to pretend all of the above is not true on the basis of one good fixture.
If he plays really well between now and January, maybe he'll cement a place in the squad. Stranger things have happened, and I'd be thrilled if he did that. But I'd personally be surprised if that happened too; just because it's unlikely for a player who has had an otherwise unremarkable career to hit suddenly a rich vein of form at the age of 30.
I don't think it makes me a 'bad fan' to think that, just another football fan with an opinion. It's not like the bloke reads this forum, and my opinions about him don't influence the way I support the team on a Saturday afternoon. A lot of people on here just have some black-and-white opinions.

He’s the only option we have, through no fault of his own. I want nothing more than for him to perform out of his skin when he has to play for us. Overall he’s nowhere near good enough, “support” doesn’t mean pretending a player is better than they are.

I was a nervous wreck for him before kick off on satdy, But he did really well. Never looked nervous & stopped what came at him.
Fans were excellent for him too, we never stopped singing his name all game.

The save first half was better. The expectation of him is so low that if he does anything that doesn’t involve dropping a bollock, he’s lauded as man of the match. Oatcake goalkeeper hysteria is absolutely peaking with this. Well done to the bloke for stepping in and putting in a bog-standard 6/10 performance. But of course on here he’s Buffon and Schmeichel rolled into one because tribalism. Signing one, if not two, Championship-standard goalkeepers quite obviously remains an urgent priority I certainly don't agree that it was a bog-standard performance. He made a couple of very good saves, looked confident and secure throughout, and didn't make any mistakes. It's not hysteria, it's just an objective and fair analysis. And I see he's made the EFL team of the week (along with Rose and McNally), so it's not just tribalism either. The stokies were excellent as well, chanting his name throughout which must have added to his confidence.

Excellent save at the end, was alert to Rose’s short back pass on the first half and distribution was perfectly adequate. And of course another clean sheet. Well done Bonzo 👏🏻👏🏻
