He going to give 100% he’s going to do the best he can . I only ever give negatives and (I don’t want him to play ) comments when there is no effort or laziness .

What’s the situation with blondy? Surely he must but on the up, 22 and working his way towards the first team?

Bonham will do his best and does deserve our support.
He isn’t as good as Travers but he is better than Bursik.

I understand he’s not in the named squad or isn’t U23 so can’t play in the first team. He’s 22 He wasn't registered in the post transfer window squad- along with Wright-Phillips and McCarron as we didn't want them to take up one of the slots for over-21s. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-free-agents-8749632Sentinel reported that any of the 3 can subsequently be registered if we wanted as there are 2 spaces left - but the fact we think Bonham and Fielding are better pretty much says it all. Certainly looks like the three of them (DWP, Blondy and McCarron) are pretty much Stoke players in name only and we're just waiting for their contracts to expire.

Hess all weve got. Its not his fault if he's not world class, however it is the clubs fault for not handling the situation better

We could argue day and night regarding the merits or otherwise of Jack Bonham .
The facts are that the powers that be deemed him worthy of a contract extension and must of seen enough to have the confidence in him to be an able deputy.
As always they will live or die by the decisions they make.
I suspect we are already on the lookout for free agents ( and if not they should be ) either to replace Bonham or sit on the bench.

It doesn't matter if he's had his chances before, and maybe didn't always take them. He's . most likely - the number one for the next three months or more, so the very last thing he - and the club - needs is for supporters to get on his back, if he's a little rusty. Even if he were to concede six today or some other game, support your number one!

Still waiting Bayern. Will you be supporting the Stoke City goalkeeper today and hoping he does well and contributes to a decent result, OR will you want him and the team to fail?

First one he conceded we'll get the Travers would gave saved that comment more than likely Always remind me of Mark Hughes first game at Liverpool away when we lost 1-0 and missed an injury time penalty….we had a thread saying Pulis wouldn’t of lost that even though just a few months earlier they’d tonked us 4-0 under Pulis 😂 What a moment it was too, I was standing behind the goal at the Anfield Road End on the restricted view seats right at the back where the stadium roof blocks the view of the far end of the pitch. The penalty was down our end, right in front of the Stoke fans. We had played fantastically well, knocking the ball around like Barcelona! And we all thought SJW would bury it and we would come away with a precious 1-1 draw at Anfield. Our fans were ready to take the roof off the place. But no, it was not to be. It was though, the start of something, a new look Stoke City!

a lottery winner to be playing professionally He’s not a first choice keeper, but he’s nowhere near as bad as some are making out. Comments like this are pretty rubbish. He’s our player, he’s going to be playing and this thread was set up as a more positive one. I sincerely hope the lad doesn’t read any of these comments / threads, because any confidence he might have had will be totally gone - What good is that going to be for the team?.. But then I suppose it will help to perpetuate some people’s arguments and they can say how correct they are in stating that Bonham is ‘the worst ever’, ‘an idiot’ and whatever other insults that have been flung his way in the last few hours (before he’s even taken over from Travers). Give him a break! Excellent post.

Pasting my comment from the other thread for a bit of objectivity: Expected goals prevented per 90 by Stoke goalkeepers since we got relegated, which is a measure of how many more or fewer goals a keeper let in compared to how a notional “average keeper” would fare against the same quality of chances faced. Positive numbers indicate the keeper prevented more goals than the average. I’ve included only keepers who played 10 or more full matches: Butland (18/19) +0.06 Davies (21/22) +0.06 Bonham (21/22) -0.04 Travers (23/24) -0.08 Bonham (22/23). -0.16 Bursik (20/21) -0.19 Davies (20/21) -0.21 Bursik (21/22) -0.23 Butland (18/20) -0.26 Bursik (22/23) -0.29 Bonus stat: Travers at Bournemouth (21/22) +0.07 Conclusions: - Our goalkeepers have generally been pretty crap at stopping shots - Bonham has been far from the worst offender Not a fan of XG overall, but -0.29 a game is absolutely shocking from Bursik Gravity is supposed to make everything fall at the same rate but somehow Bursic seemed to defy gravity and take an age to get to the ground. Travers is the complete opposite - he gets to the floor really quickly and as a result gets to make saves Bursic couldn't. Travers is a class above Bonham but he isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people make out and I hope he does well - he's a good squad man. Having said that I hope we get a replacement in at Xmas.

Totally agree with this thread, we should get behind Jack . He deserves our support.
Travers was our first team keeper on top money , 20 k a week ( at Stoke! ) Other players on top money, include Lewis baker ( about 20 k a week) and Dwight Gayle ( about 20 k a week)
All 3 are supposedly our top first team players,on top money.
Bonham is back up , on about 4 k a week . Jordan Thompson is back up on about 4 and half k a week.
My point is...if you want to have a moan about the likes of 20 k a week Baker or Gayle , then moan away .
But don't start moaning about back up players , like Bonham and JT , who come in when needed, and do a job for a FRACTION of the wages of our supposed first team big hitters ( Travers , Baker , Gayle)
I think given the massive difference in wages between Travers and Bonham, Baker and JT , both Bonham and JT should be respected for coming in and doing the job they do , for the money they do when required.

Sometimes criticism can actually make a player go ‘You know what, I’m going to show you how good I am.’
Looks like he’s well up for it today, and fair play to him.
