You see where Ferguson's strengths lie. The way he handled him after the 98 world cup was brilliant. I was struck with how ruthless he was at the end, Wenger would never ended it like that. Would Beckham have kicked on at Man United if he stayed or was that act needed to keep the rest of the team inline - who knows? The relationship just seemed to have become untenable by that point. Happened with Ince, Keane, RVN and was just starting to happen with Rooney too. Ferguson's strength for so long was knowing when it was time to move someone on and identifying their replacement early. Goalkeepers were the exception - Schmeichel's decision to go caught him on the hop a bit and it took years for him to find a suitable replacement in VDS.

Yeah or if he'd just fallen out with them and there was no way back - RVN, Stam, Beckham and Ince all had loads still to offer as players, just not to Man United given the relationship with Ferguson and the fact that Ferguson had identified how to replace them (Stam aside). Keane was both - there was the MUTV thing but he'd been on the slide as a player for a while too.

The documentary on Prime about Alex Ferguson is absolutely brilliant if you've not seen it. Mental that the extra fire in his belly really came from getting shit at Rangers for his Mrs being Catholic.

Think it was on my old 'Team of the Decade' on VHS back in the day and Strachan says the team in one of his first seasons were celebrating getting a draw at Ibrox and Fergie went absolutely fucking tonto! Separate interview with Fergie and you could still see the fire in his eyes - 'Cartwheels at a draw! Really poor that so we set about changing the entire mindset of the club'.

Must admit the likes of Netflix and Amazon are full of absolute shit, streaming giants paying fortunes to multi millionaires so they can follow them around filming, talk about getting paid for nothing.
The other half loved At home with the Fury’s, talk about shit.
People must be brain dead watching this stuff.

Knobbing your childrens baby sitter/PR woman? I will admit he has done extremely well for a footballer who couldn't head a ball or tackle or use his left foot. He wasn't great with his left foot at all no but the things he could do, he was one of the best of his generation. The England game against Greece where he scored the free kick at the death to send us to the world cup was the best performance by an England player I have ever seen and probably ever will see. The bloke gave everything for his country every time he stepped onto that pitch but that day he was an absolute animal. I get the questions over mistakes he has made in his personal life but how you can knock his footballing ability I'm not so sure about. Best mental with my young sons when that went in

You never forget football moments like that and they remind you why you fell in love with the game.

Best mental with my young sons when that went in I remember having a mental with my dad when that went in mate. You never forget football moments like that and they remind you why you fell in love with the game. One of my 7 yyyr olds stood up and launched himself flying from the chair across to the settee on top of me, never forget. Don't get to go many games with him but will always remember that

I was kind of shocked. He was always a way above average goalkeeper but what he accomplished at Man Utd was amazing.

He looked great at Ajax but things went really badly for him in Italy and his confidence was shot really early.

I never knew that 'posh' called him the night before the Argentina game to tell him she's up the duff! Not seen her for 7 weeks then springs that on him the night before! Silly bitch.

Never denied his affair(s?) and made himself look the victim in the process. That's the biggest take away for me really. At first I bought into it for 10 minutes after the series ended, then thought about why he made this rather propagandist documentary (made by his own production team).
Did he really do that to keep himself in the spotlight? He felt so bad Victoria was suffering but didn't manage to take responsibility for it? Bizarre.
