There's a good Beckham interview with Neville, Keane, Carragher and Ian Wright on youtube too

Two episodes in and I’m really enjoying it.Ive always been quite ambivalent towards him but to see the absolute shit this poor fucker was put through after his sending off, is appalling.Booed relentlessly for months every time he kicked a ball,I personally just watched on at the time totally oblivious to what he must have been going through. Other things I picked up on was his stupid wife a)telling him on the eve of two massive games she was pregnant then the second time that he’d better not miss the birth of the child ffs. b) Gary Neville is a decent bloke. How many countries treat their star players the way they do in England? Press and fans alike then they moan when they fall short again. The way the press treated Bobby Robson then was all ..Please stay Bobby etc after Italy. Beckham, Rooney etc they wouldn't leave alone. I remember the day before their first World Cup game in France, NOTW had a pic of Seaman's ex wife and a story that he didn't get her tickets with a glum face. That was the best they could dig up to undermine a player on the eve of the tournament The trouble is, it sells. The state of our media says as much about us as a country as it does about the media itself. If it didn't shift papers or get clicks they wouldn't write it.

Knobbing your childrens baby sitter/PR woman? I will admit he has done extremely well for a footballer who couldn't head a ball or tackle or use his left foot. He wasn't great with his left foot at all no but the things he could do, he was one of the best of his generation. The England game against Greece where he scored the free kick at the death to send us to the world cup was the best performance by an England player I have ever seen and probably ever will see. The bloke gave everything for his country every time he stepped onto that pitch but that day he was an absolute animal. I get the questions over mistakes he has made in his personal life but how you can knock his footballing ability I'm not so sure about. I agree. He was truly sensational that day and wore the England shirt with immense pride. I've never had a problem with the lad but I'm queasy about his dealings with Saudi. But I can say that about a lot of others who have dealings with that vile place. OS.

He will get his knighthood one day, yes he made mistakes but he is a true ambassador for this country and from a post further back about him spending time with a Down’s syndrome kids team a very nice chap as well

My only beef with Beckham is just about every single woman I have ever been in a relationship froth as soon they see him on the tele. How’s that a bad thing? He’s not there to take them away from you. Get them in the mood and let them close their eyes and think of golden balls.

Great so far, I’m 2 episodes in.
It’s clear that the Argentina incident still eats at him. Not really surprising given the disgusting treatment he got.

Comes across really well. He’s made sacrifices from a young age to get where he is now. Very rich and successful. Jealous people tend to criticise. In fairness Posh looks better these days than she did back in the day

That performance and free kick against Greece is one of my top footballing highlights. Yep, it was his redemption moment. That’s one of the games where you see one player single handedly grip up a situation and inspire those around him. Beckham seemed possessed and refused to accept what was going on. If only we had someone with those leadership skills right now.

It should have been Simeone or the ref that got it for that situation. Beckham almost got whiplash and then basically trips Simeone over with a soft as shit kick on the leg. It was such a nothing thing for the ref to give a red card for. Cheating Argie fuckers.

My only disappointment is that I never saw him play down stoke. He was a different gravy. Everything I like to watch as a footballer, which is why I like the fodens and Maddisons of this game.

Two great players with the right attitude as was Beckham as you say. Beckham made a fortune but was still clear he loved playing right until the end Maddison is looking an absolute class act.

Love Beckham. Just an absolute superstar.
People forget how good he was at football, could well have won a Balon d’Or at one point. Excellent footballer and just seems a decent bloke. Let’s be honest if you’ve got his status and looks and the worst thing you did was roger Rebecca Loos I think that’s a result.
Being real most on here in that position would be like a rat up a drainpipe if they had his status 😂

Think a fair few of them do, when it comes to the top European nations. Italy, Germany, Netherlands. The press in England is shocking the way it treats anyone of note. The likes of The Sun looking for dirt then making it up if nothing of note. All over the team then on the eve of a big game They once printed the number of Lancaster Gate as a headline for readers to call and get Bobby Robson fired 2 years later they were all over Saint Bobby No argument there, they've been disgusting over the years. Was just disputing the notion it doesn't happen in other countries.

I was right in line with his free kick against Greece at Old Trafford (opposite end of the ground, mind). His performance that day was incredible, but he’d tried and failed with a number of similar free kicks. When he stepped up to take this final one, in injury time I think, me and my mate just looked at each other with dejection that we’d seen these efforts fail over and over and this one was going to be no different…. As it flew in, it was as if in slow motion and then, boom mass celebrations and an amazing mental. We’d made it to the World Cup Finals. Me and my mate agreed, in hindsight, it was never in doubt. 😂

It’s a blemish on his character that hopefully they’ll address in the series; but I don’t think we’re in a position to hold a decades old mistake against him when I don’t think even his wife does. Besides, 99.9% of men will never have any idea what it’s like being a man that desirable. You could’ve been married for 100 years and never so much as looked at another woman, but if you didn’t have beautiful women throwing themselves at you then you probably aren’t in a position to judge someone who does. They showed plenty of footage of him getting stuck in btw. And one footedness (if it’s even true) is a shit argument because messi… Messi has scored more right footed goals than most right footed players have. 🤣 Always makes me laugh when people say this. 101 apparently. www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/lionel-messi-800-goals-breakdown-of-the-stats

What a great series this is. Loved every episode. Say what you like about Beckham, but he works hard at everything he does. Successful people do generally. The whole thing comes across very well. Still surprised Gary Neville didn't do well as a manager. I would say he comes across as having all you need to make it as a good manager. totally agree.Whenever I saw Beckham put an England shirt you could see he loved playing for England despite all the abuse he got after that world cup match.

You’re speaking to the wrong person tbh 🤣 I think it’s pretty disgraceful that any pro footballer is so one footed. You’ve been doing one thing since you were 8 and you couldn’t be arsed to get your other foot better and don’t use it. Shambolic imo.

Most footballers seem overly biased to one foot and I think it’s exceptionally poor.

Really enjoyed it and thought the dynamic of his relationship with Posh was especially interesting. They seemed to skirt around it even in the time given to it but reckon he defo seemed to have cheated. She obviously wasn't keen on Madrid and kept the kids at home to begin with but in fairness it looked a total fucking nightmare. Can see she's moved out in the end and wouldn't be surprised if played more of a part in the LA thing than discussed but for him to then fuck off to Milan and Paris it's no wonder she'd have the hump. However, massive respect for him not really giving a fuck about anyone and anything because he wanted to play in the world cup.
Seemed genuine enough and I'd watch his weird grill OCD live streamed to be honest as that was genuinely therapeutic.
