Well the only constants now are the Coates and the fans. I’ve seen the Coates family putting everything into the club… I’ve watched the fans become entitled pricks who boo at the slightest thing. It’s a far cry from the bear pit atmosphere that turned the favourites to go down in to a 10 year premier league club. Get to fuck. Carry on booing then.

It's not the fan's fault. How many times? It's actually insulting. The fans deserve a medal for still turning up as they do after the shit we've been served over the past 7 years. You actually want to watch some half decent football and watch us actually win a few games?! Stop being so entitled!!

Boooooooooooooooo. Just getting it in here, as I won't be there tomorrow. a bit presumptuous! Steve and the lads are trying to make sure we’ve nothing to boo. I won’t hold my breath. Continue to play like gutless, disinterested mercenaries then they deserve to be booed. Not like many will stay next season is it anyway so what do they care.

Pride ,where supporters are concerned may have to take a hit to avoid the fall. It's totally dispiriting, frustrating, maddening ..I could go on, to have to watch such abject, awful; displays of football/apathy etc. HOWEVER, booing won't help and will only make matters worse. I'm afraid, for all of you long-suffering supporters who put up with this week in week out, you probably know in your hearts that the only way to TRY and save Our Club from the road to oblivion is by just trying to be the twelth man/woman/child. It'll have to be a case of doing everything that can be done positively vocally to try to drag them over the finish line and keep us up. Strangely, if some of them actually see what an atmosphere can be created they may just get a little taster of what could come. If we avoid relegation there will be an atmosphere like most of them won't have experienced. Yep, for the good of Stoke City we're all going to have to bite the bullet. One Team, One Goal..survival and I know it's easier said than done but we're just going to have to do it.

There would be far less booing once players like Hoever & Wilmot have left the club, replaced with players who don't gift goals to the opposition.

The pressure on the players that care and the management team will be enormous. A hostile atmosphere will make them even more nervy and less likely to respond positively should something like that happen again. I know how hard it is when it's all going ar$e up but I think it's all we can do as our contribution. Not for the players that don't give a rat's ass but for the players that come in/stay who do care if we survive this monumental moment in our history.

There would be far less booing once players like Hoever & Wilmot have left the club, replaced with players who don't gift goals to the opposition. I honestly can’t remember the players being booed consistently this season. Odd times when apathy has shifted to anger when we have been unconscionably crap and listless. You can not expect the crowd to react positively to game after game of the same tripe being served up- not abjectly poor performances but a constant deja vu feeling that well huff and puff, create a couple of half decent chances, not take them and then gift the opposition a goal or two. Cheering like village idiots isn’t going to make a difference at all. The players need to show fortitude and look like they have fight/character to overcome setbacks (generally individual errors) but they don’t. They generally wilt very quickly. As a fan base I think we are pretty forgiving, we just expect 100% effort and will rally behind the team if they give that. Otherwise except for the odd flare up we just watch in polite silence as the shit show unfolds in front of our eyes.

If you had a group of people sat behind you putting pressure on you doing your job as opposed to when you normally do your job by yourself, Would you be more prone to mistakes with the group moaning every time you paused, took a bit too long doing something or did something they didn’t think was right. And boo’s when you eventually make a mistake. Take that group and make it 20,000 people… Now if that group behind you were positive and still supported you when you made a mistake. Would your feel more positive and enabled to do your job better?

From what I can see the problem lies with the character of a large proportion of our players. Whether we cheered or booed them (which I don’t think we do too much anyway) it doesn’t make a hot of difference if they are not mentally robust enough to make a mistake and as individuals/a collective find the spirit/character to go again. They wilt, booing or no booing, cheering or no cheering.

Whether you boo or happy clap -none of my business how others choose to express themselves. I just pray that booing doesn't even have to enter the picture Saturday. (There's that fatal hope again)
What I do know is that Stoke fans will show up again in numbers, they will cheer again if given half an excuse. And if for God's sake, we start f*cking up again, they'll boo. Can't say that we don't have good fans.
Need a win Saturday worse than most politicians need a muzzle. (And most of them need that BADLY)

I remember this debate around 1998-99 when our home form was dismal as we got relegated and then struggled in the third tier. People kept saying home games were difficult for the players because they knew the fans would get annoyed every time they kept fucking up.
Funnily enough, the solution turned out to be get ridding of the crap, fragile players and replacing them with men who had a bit of backbone.
Hopefully history will repeat itself.

Second half Hoever carries the ball out doesn't play it back or square despite there being options to, gets his pocket pinched and they score, get rightfully groaned at. Ones a valid reason to have a but of a moan one isn't, can't play forwards all the time. That being said players should have more about them and not shrink within themselves at a few drongos who pay there money to come down and moan about everything that happens. Booing aint helped these players, and we don't really know if getting behind them does either because the atmosphere has been toss for longer than we've been poor, the atmosphere in the last 3 prem years was poor outside of when we played the big boys.

Moaning and groaning and the inevitable booing doesn't help the players, regardless of what we think about what we see. It's that simple.
And yes, I understand fully that moaning and groaning can be a guttural response to the shit we see all too often, I'm just saying it doesn't help.

This is a good point a lot fail to realise, it's the nature of the beast of being in the Prem so long, it happens to every club. It's almost like you get comfy once that underdog mentality is no longer viable and you become established. Which makes people who try to blame our current plight on the fans even sillier in my opinion.

This concentration on "the fans" is really starting to get on my wick. JW's Henry V speech and Schuey's recent interview lay all the onus on the fans. Clearly a clever diversion ploy from the Club to make us all concentrate on the issue being the fans and not the people who really matter in this - the players, the management and the coaches.
How anyone can place any blame at the feet of fans who have turned up in their numbers over the past 6 years to watch, in the main, clueless football is beyond me. I accept that football is not your normal customer-supplier relationship: we don't move to another supplier because the product on offer is dreadful, we carry on regardless buying the same rubbish week after week. To have the odd grumble now and again, when far worse is deserved, is hardly the worst thing and should be expected by the club.
Lest we all forget, the players, management and coaches are all paid - and very handsomely too - to serve up the disasters we've seen recently. Yes booing may not help these fragile beings - despite them being very happy to accept the adulation when it is on offer - but is it really too much to ask as a supporter for our players and coaching staff to be able to serve up a performance where corners can get past the 1st man, where throw ins can be made forward and more than 3 yards, where defenders can avoid passing to the opposition (don't forget that there's normally twice as many defenders than attackers on the pitch) and where attackers can actually attempt a shot and get it on target. How often do we all hear "what do they do in training?" during a game - we're not expecting mazzy Messi runs all the time, just some basics being done right.
Rant over, let's leave the fans alone. We'll all turn up and support from the word go, or at least I know I will, just as we have done for the past umpteen number of years. We've done our bit already, it's now the Clubs turn.

I don't really care if they think they're putting the onus on the supporters. At this stage I say we're just needing to get behind the team (as frustrating and difficult as that might be at times) for own sakes. Does anyone REALLY want to see Stoke sinking down again? It's in our own interests to play what part we can for our own sanity if nothing else. A re-set wouldn't be trying to crawl out of league one, a REAL re-set would be surviving in the Championship hoping that we don't find ourselves in that position again! It's all very real now. Let's get behind them from wherever we are and hope that they respond appropriately. This is a wake up call for a few of them who maybe think they're better than Stoke City. Relegation's never a good look on your CV.
