Confused. So our worst players were Dublin’s fault and our brightest sparks were also his fault? Do we have any bright sparks? 😅😂 Apart from Burger, Junior, McNally, and maybe Jun-Ho I am genuinely struggling to think of any of our summer signings that have genuinely moved us forward (or look like they have the potential to) compared to what we had on the books in the last couple of years. I’d add Haks in as well, who seemed frozen out until today. It’s just all too early to judge is my main worry. We’re still what, 4 months into the first season of this? Players need to acclimatise and with 18 signings we were bound to have a split of hits and misses. I’m happy we’ve deviated to this approach rather than a Vokes, McClean, Clucas esque approach of high fees etc. How much of the season so far has been Neil, how much has been settling in and how much has been the players not being up to this level we just don’t know at this point. We also don’t know who Jared found that Neil didn’t try for, or who did try for but didn’t sign. Additionally we don’t know who Neil wanted over Jared and such. It’s all too soon, there’s been a lot of upheaval and I feel like that now we have a new head coach in place we’ll see the true impact of the lads from summer. Even the woeful front three or whatever they’ve been called on here have amassed double digits of goals so far, and undoubtedly have had people off their feet and singing their praises - just consistency needed now. As someone else said, January will be an interesting one to see who we go after.

The one player we invested in was Burger. He looks a good champ player. That's what you get for 5m.
McNally and Travers are prem reserves and look that level. In theory that is a spine.
We spent nothing up top and have acquired a bunch of misfits.
Honestly squad looks a disaster aside from those 3 and 1 has gone. Will be a challenge to stay up.

I was at Huddersfield when he started and I thought that he looked really creative in that game. I think that the wider problem for me is that we left ourselves incredibly short in key areas. There was a real lack of planning and forward thinking. The lack of a commanding centre back (further exacerbated by the panic signing of Clark) and only signing one left back epitomises our poor planning. The likes of Mmaee, Vidigal, and Leris might still come good. However, we are now effectively relying on three lads who have never played in England before to lead our attack (and Wesley who has scored 6 goals in 90+ appearances since injury). Again, very naive of us at best. I have no problem with us changing our recruitment strategy and taking a new direction. However, that does not mean that questions should not be asked when we appear to have made so many crucial errors. As you say, January is going to be an incredibly important window for us.

Yeah left back annoys me because of all the Ben Davies efforts on deadline day, despite him having no intention of leaving Rangers. That one felt like a Neil fixation that could’ve cost us - same with the Ross Stewart obsession. We’ll see what happens in January but you and I are largely in agreement in terms of the areas we’re struggling in!

What am I missing? People just miss Arnie.

His signings have been decent, they just need time to adapt. Some have only been here for 5 months.
Mmaee looks technically very good, needs a bit more confidence, players alot closer to him and with time his decision making will be alot quicker.
Vidigal showed at the start of the season he's technically good, lacks pace to just run past people, but he needs to gain confidence and to toughen up.
Leris has been a cheap version of Brown, he may perform better down the middle as he doesn't appear to have a trick or pace to go past a player.
Wesley, very limited mobility, but good at holding the ball up. How did we sign the only brazilian lad like that?
Pearson, only signed because of Neil, is a limited ball sitting midfielder, but hes one of the better ones in the league.
Johnson, only signed because of Neil, decent enough for this league.
Burger lacks mobility, but has good control of the ball and passing range.
Junho lacks pace out wide, needs to learn to pass the ball slightly quicker but his vision is pretty good. Technically decent too.
Stevens, no worse or better than anything before.
Rose has been punished for playing too high a line.
Jojic, unknown.
Haks, looks a technically competent player, has played about three seconds of the season so far
McNally, decent player as he showed at Coventry
Hoever, okay, not so good this season.
Junior, looks a good solid option for the future.
For me we just havent played to their strengths, they are good enough and after technically better than we've had before.
Neil made every player a poorer one with us whilst he was he.
Which one player did he improve?
Hopefully Steve will show how to coach!

Rubbish Mmaee weak and falls over easily - needs a league one loan out Vidigal - same as above - needs loaning out Leris - jury’s out. Not looking good. Needs a loan Wesley - can’t shoot or jump Johnson - almost past it Pearson - a shadow of how he played on loan Hoever - dogshit. Send him back Rose - crap Stevens - almost past it Mcnally - mediocre Gooch -mediocre Only good signings: Junior Burger Bae Haks Pretty shit record most are flops or mediocre! League table doesn’t lie Jared out.

Opinions, hey! 😂 However, I agree entirely with you comments regarding AN. I am not sure what we were doing on the training ground because none of our players seemed to improve (rather, most seemed to steadily regress!). I hope that SS can find a way of getting more out of this current group of players by working with them on the training pitches and actually facilitating some individual and collective improvements. I cannot see another huge turnover in players like the summer, so he might not have a choice but to work with whatbhe has already got.

I cannot see another huge turnover in players like the summer, so he might not have a choice but to work with whatbhe has already got. Thing is, ever since we've been relegated we allegedly haven't had one good player. Yet players like Doughty, Brown, Clarke, Delap, Bidace, Smith, Ostigard, Harwood-Bellis, Surridge are players who have either played in the premier league since leaving us or look likely next season. All these players weren't seen as good enough. The present lot are technically good enough, we are slow as a team though and not as strong as we could be. So we arent suited to defensive football which is what Neil had us playing. It was as dumb as Lambert playing defensive football when we got relegated. We need to play attacking football, the team is suited to it. The players Jared has signed, are largely players that can be developed, Steve looks like he is suited to it.

That for me is his best position, not as a winger. To utilise him best, and maximise Mmaee’s skillset, we should play both Haks and Bae as the attacking/creative No 10s behind Mmaee.

I have never seen you be so lavish with praise. Pray tell, why are we barely out of the relegation places with all these good signings? Even if you try and blame everything on AN; today wasn't it obvious for all to see how poor our forward line is? Only the bottom 3 have scored fewer than us. The three of them did the square root of f all the whole game. To spend so much and still be so shit, is gross incompetence.

I agree with the good signings apart from Vidigal who seems to have been so disillusioned by the physicality and lack of protection from referees that he is scared of his own shadow. Strange because that's what I expected from Bae but he seems to ride it and for his age really looks promising. I would put Leris in the average but does a job category. I'm pretty sure he was a Jared suggestion to replace the unexpected departure of Brown. That just leaves Rose as the terrible, why did we bother and as we tried to sign him in January I'm pretty sure was a Neil lead signing along with Johnson (does a good enough job) , Clark(needed when signed but not fit then so probably terrible) , Pearson, Gooch and Stephens I suspect. That seems like quite a good record from Jared so I don't understand the negativity towards him. He got quite close to a 100% success rate which is excellent. I doubt if the unbalanced squad is his fault necessarily. We were never going to get everyone we needed in the six weeks we had and we don't know, which left backs/centre halves/goalkeepers he had on his list. Junior, Bae and Burger took a lot of time and effort. The one I suspect which was Dublin lead but hasn't come off at all yet is Haks and he, it seems, had a problem with Neil.

Think the lineup and general prep today would've been more Gally than Schumacher given the limited time he's had but there was definitely an improvement, albeit against a poor Millwall side. But it was good to see that Schumacher had had enough of Leris and Johnson on 53 minutes and both Junior and Junho had a good impact so hopefully he'll take that into the next game.

Yeah he took the two worst players off pretty sharpish which was encouraging. Junior isn’t a winger though. But again he showed good intent and did well. You could see the difference just by how Burger played imo. He was encouraging everyone to play forward. He was taking the ball on the half turn and going forward and doing all the shit he should be doing. It was great to see.

He was taking the ball on the half turn and going forward and doing all the shit he should be doing. It was great to see. You can tell that Burger was asked to do things differently yesterday and he looked a lot better for it. Absolutely and he clearly really loved that responsibility and way of playing too. I can’t remember the last time we had a central midfielder that motivated tbh.

I thought he was very good yesterday.

Why Haks? His career record is quite poor. He's got no track record and doesn't look very good in the championship. What am I missing? People just miss Arnie. Why wouldn’t we? I’m not seeing the similarity apart from their names ending in vic.

He was also captaining the team regardless who has the armband.

He was never going to fix a broken club in one window no matter how good he is. We didn't even have 11 players in the summer so he had to make a lot of signings which is not something a club usually does. We had to spread our money across a number of players to build a squad so maybe some players we wanted we weren't in a position to go for. Once we settle into a position where we are signing just 2-4 players in a window to improve on what we have maybe our targets can be more focused. We have a foundation to build on, it will get better. We have some really talented players who need coaching properly and hopefully we now have the right man to do it.
