It's not about being fair weather. If the club is a shit show, year on year, people use their intelligence and vote with their feet Man City fans didn't, Leeds fans didn't. But you think it's a good thing to not show up? You need to check out some footage over the years of Elland Road. They lost their fair share of support with fans not bothering with home games.

Following surgery I'm not going to get to home games this side of Xmas so I can only see TV highlights but there's a depressing number of empty seats - is this still "summer holidays" ? We've transformed the squad, we're winning games, I'd have thought that would have got a lot of people back ? Hope your recovering well my friend. One of those empty seats is mine. Sometimes other things become more important. I volunteer with the RSPB now so to do that it needs to be on a Saturday due to my full time job in the week so football had to sacrifice. Whilst Stoke were winning 1-0 at home to Watford i was photographing Osprey because again weekend or evening is only chance i get.

But you think it's a good thing to not show up? they did If a club is performing badly year on year on year on year on year on year on year, then people will stop paying to watch. Especially in these times. If the team can get a run of form going for the first time in what, 6-7 years? Then those attendances will move back to the upper 20's.

We need a proper standing / singing section at the front of the boothen for the oatcake ultras
Seriously though, we should try and adopt something like that to get the young lads together and a bit of a movement going

Lasted about 3 months.

Just to put things into perspective(Leeds)
The juggernaut/monster club that would have always sold more tickets than any other club ( if you believe there fans) around 10/11 years ago had 21k average home attendance for the season
Put a sustained period of good football together with results and a good position in the table, fans will gradually come back

In all the time I’ve been following Stoke ( 50+ years ) We’ve always been a bit fickle when it comes to numbers ..that’s not to say poor form doesn’t have an impact ..or that amongst our number there’s not many very loyal fans
End of the day ,it’s up to the individual if they miss or not .. I can’t control what others do , I count as one when I go through the turnstile , the same as any fan supporting any club anywhere in the world ..no one better or worse

It didn’t work anyway.
Having the south stand and Boothen trying to start songs at the same time which is what happens just kills off any sort of thing. Because even if it’s the same song it’s usually sung a few words out of step so you never know where to join if you sit inbetween.
It’s a mess.

The red button ( when applicable ) and more so the dodgy firestick make it too easy now for people to think “fuck it”
Especially the midweek matches

I’m convinced this would work Wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to introduce rail seating into those blocks if they aren't ST holders? Might also solve the atmosphere problem and no one could moan at losing their seat.

There were 5 seats either side of me free yesterday, due to holidays. I guess yesterday’s match fell into peak summer holiday season. What surprised me was how sparse the Boothen End looked especially when Vidigal wheeled away in celebration. Winning football will bring a certain number of fans back but I’ve said it before the club need to look quite urgently at reduced prices of bundles of ticket to get people back into the habit of going and making it more affordable for those people who can’t afford a season ticket. They could quite easily put together a package of tickets to be put on sale tomorrow for say the night matches already scheduled at a really good price and I’m sure they would sell well. A £10/£5 offer available to all to capitalise on the new feel good factor is needed also pretty soon. Why not the Hull match due the move to the Sunday lunchtime!? Nice to see the club have the £10/£5 offer for the Hull game. www.stokecityfc.com/news/2023/august/29/season-card-special-for-hull-city-clash/I know for some people it’s an inconvenient kick off time but hopefully plenty take up this offer. £10 for a Championship fixture is incredibly good value!

The crowds are fine. I don't know what else people expect given our last 6-7 years. It's not a fanbase full of diehards who will come no matter what, you do have to entice some people.
Indeed, 21k crowds after years of shite is very impressive, this is a club that had crowds dwindling down to about 9k in previous eras.

But you think it's a good thing to not show up? It's not mandatory for fans to carry on coming. There are loads of factors at play, a lot of people have done a cost benefit analysis and probably decided the ££££ on season tickets, parking, drinking, etc whatever isn't worth it.

End of the day it's a entertainment business and people will vote with feet if they aren't getting entertained. It's only this season with the signings we've finally got a buzz going around the place but Alex is doing a good job of killing that buzz before the bee has even taken off.
