There were 5 seats either side of me free yesterday, due to holidays. I guess yesterday’s match fell into peak summer holiday season. What surprised me was how sparse the Boothen End looked especially when Vidigal wheeled away in celebration. Winning football will bring a certain number of fans back but I’ve said it before the club need to look quite urgently at reduced prices of bundles of ticket to get people back into the habit of going and making it more affordable for those people who can’t afford a season ticket. They could quite easily put together a package of tickets to be put on sale tomorrow for say the night matches already scheduled at a really good price and I’m sure they would sell well. A £10/£5 offer available to all to capitalise on the new feel good factor is needed also pretty soon. Why not the Hull match due the move to the Sunday lunchtime!? Spot on...I'd go with my lad if it was say £60 for 4 games. Only prob though is this would probably piss off and even deter season ticket sales, but in these tight times people are staying away for economic reasons.

Just watching Union Berlin vs Mainz. Decent old-school ground & 22,000 capacity sell-out.
We're not going to be selling out this season, even if we're up there, so maybe the club can come up with a longer-term 'incentive' - bring a mate for £10 with your ST (first come first served), or kids for a quid, etc?

Plenty of empty seats there Too many. It really is like a library. Sometimes you wouldn't even think a game is on it is THAT quiet. I’ve only ever seen 3 things at Ewood Park and that’s grey clouds, rain and 3 points for Stoke. Oh I was at the FA Cup Valentines Day Massacre actually. And the 3-0 loss in the yellow shirts. But the grey clouds and rain are always a constant.

I’m convinced this would work Yeh It’s certainly the front few rows which are empty and they’re the ones you get most on the TV coverage

Had to bite my tongue last season when we scored and then won. It's been quite warm recently, won't last long though!

A view from the away end. Two things I notice watching this. The family stand is always a let down for attendance. I know it's holiday time but it often had empty seats even in the prem. And also, why are the floodlights on when it's a nice sunny day? Hmmm love how they think parking next to the ground is a “win”. 😂😂

People talk about cost of Living, hard times etc but I think football is pretty much recession proof. If your team is performing and on the verge of achieving something good the tickets will sell. Considering the shit we have endured for many Years it’s a miracle we still have 20k + crowds.

Mine and my wife's seat have been empty this season. It looks like October before we can attend thanks to a combination of holidays, rail strikes, mid week matches and Sky buggering the schedules. We live in Hereford and travel by train. A typical 3pm ko means leaving home at 8am arriving back at 10 pm. Midweek is impossible due to work and rail timetables. Sunday forget unless ko is after 2pm. Still have season cards....

Look at the drop off of attendances when we got relegated.

You also have to consider our fanbase has had the joy and enthusiasm sucked out of them over recent years. It's a work in progress. A 20k plus crowd is good considering. If we can get a run together where we can genuinely challenge for promotion crowds of over 25k are likely.

Its a wonder Uncle Peter hasn't sectioned off the first 10 front seats of the whole ground, and got Bet 365 red and white advertising canvasses.

Stoke fans aren't like fans of clubs like Sunderland or Leeds. The is a blind loyalty which they have, and it's just not in our nature. If it's crap, we'll moan and stay away. I don't think it's a bad thing.
We've lost 10000 fans in the last 7 years through being crap, constantly.
If they can get a run going this season then a lot will come back. But we'll probably not sell out unless we're in the premier league again

People have watched some rubbish in the last couple of years and have lost interest. Takes a lot to get supporters back once they get out of the habit. They should tour the local schools with very cheap/free tickets for youngsters.

The crowds are actually pretty good considering how long we've been crap for. It's the new corner which has pulled more fans up from the lower rows compared to the old configuration of the stadium which is making crowds in the low 20s look shit. Whereas a crowd of 21 or 22,000 in the old Britannia used to look very healthy.
People naturally don't want to sit on the front few rows. The view is shit and you get wet when it rains. So given that we aren't close to selling out and there is plenty of choice over where to sit with no difficulty finding seats together, people are naturally choosing to sit higher up in the stands.
The only way to force people to sit in those lower rows that look empty on TV is success. Play well and people will want to come. The upper rows will be already full with us lot who have stuck with it through the shit so they'll have no choice but to sit in the lower rows. And if we're playing well enough, they'll do it. Carry on being shit and those fans will continue to stay away and the regulars will continue sitting in the dry higher up the stands.

If you'd asked me what our crowds would be like after 6 bottom half Championship seasons I would have expected to be back down to 12000-14000
The numbers have been fantastic

To be fair most grounds look half empty in the Championship on tv as like some have said the front rows are usually less full and are the ones you can see all the time on tv. Our crowds so far have been good considering.

Following surgery I'm not going to get to home games this side of Xmas so I can only see TV highlights but there's a depressing number of empty seats - is this still "summer holidays" ? We've transformed the squad, we're winning games, I'd have thought that would have got a lot of people back ? I don't think we were selling out until about March time in our promotion campaign, after so many years of shit, it takes people a lot longer to believe it won't just be another false dawn I think. We have looked good and it could be a special season with one or two very good late acquisitions, it'll get there. Also, as mentioned, the view from the front of the stands is absolutely crap.

Even for £23 . I think getting fans back can be trickier at times than attracting new ones if things been particularly poor. Last season at home was beyond bad, it was Ted Rogers jokes bad. I think our support considering is pretty good.
