Those hard-nosed arbiters of sporting probability, the bookmakers, go for this...
Average of all bookmakers.
1.Leicester 2.Leeds 3.Southampton 4.Middlesbrough 5.Norwich 6.Ipswich 7.West Brom 8.Watford 9.Stoke 10.Sunderland 11.Coventry 12.Millwall 13.Swansea 14.Blackburn 15.Bristol City 16.Hull 17.Preston 18.Birmingham 19.Sheffield Wednesday 20.Cardiff City 21.Huddersfield 22.QPR 23.Plymouth Argyle 24.Rotherham
What am I missing with the Ipswich thing? Just looked it up, American takeover.

At present, I think we have a squad that should have us finish about 12th.

Looks about right. Though relegated teams are always favourites and it's not often they all do well. Sometimes they implode after losing all their best players.

The 1-24 EFL predictions from the Not The Top 20 podcast came out this morning - always an excellent listen, especially if you're into outright football betting.
They have us finishing 9th which I think is fair.

Also can’t see Plymouth going down and as it stands struggle to see Sheffield Wednesday staying up.

Based on last year's position, manager and transfer activity to date . . . I'd say:
Leicester Soton Birmingham Middlesboro Coventry Leeds Norwich Stoke Sunderland Ipswich Blackburn Millwall Hull Bristol C. WBA Watford Preston QPR Plymouth Cardiff Swansea Huddersfield Rotherham Sheffield W

QPR lost 5-0 at Oxford at the weekend in their last friendly before the season starts, either Oxford a good bet for promotion or QPR were pants. It's only preseason but you'd expect it to be a bit closer than that. Wish we were plying QPR on Saturday, even our old forward line from last season could, maybe, score a couple.
QPR were thrashed 5-0 in a pre-season friendly at Oxford United, where Jimmy Dunne was stretchered off with a shoulder injury.
Rangers’ options at centre-back are currently limited, with Rob Dickie and Leon Balogun having left the club and Jake Clarke-Salter continuing to be troubled by injuries.
And their worries in that position have worsened with Dunne, who boss Gareth Ainsworth expected to be reliant on, having suffered what appeared to be a serious injury.

I am both excited and intrigued by what we might see this season, if we complete the transfer window with another strong showing in our defensive unit we could actually have a genuine top 10 finish that's my heart talking. in reality I think if we can play some exciting entertaining football and finish in the top half then add the missing pieces to the jigsaw next summer we should have a really decent shot at promotion challenge.
of course a lot will depend on how well the new recruits settle and adapt to the Championship,we might surprise everyone including ourselves.

Anything less than top six is a failure of recruitment. Not being negative, just what I think! I'm sure Alex thinks the same!
