Brown wanted to leave so it was pointless keeping him. He didn't. The club thought the offer was too good to turn down. God knows why. He did, as sorensen has said. And this what he said when he was announced at Luton: "It still doesn’t feel real. I’ve known about the interest for a long time and since I’ve known about it, I’ve been so excited. So for it to be finally done, I’m over the moon."

Wonder what the initial fee would be for Cannon? For all the talk of the Simms fee (which turned into an auction from the same seller), it seems to have only been an initial £3.5m - with the 'crazy' £8m only payable if they go up (and that'd feel like peanuts if it works out to that extent) The Jacob Brown fee would more than cover an investment like that if we were sure he was the one we wanted? www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/coventry-city-hamer-simms-sakamoto-27293267The 22-year-old has joined the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee, understood to be an initial £3.5million, raising to £5m depending on various add-ons and a figure that could hit £8m if City gain promotion to the Premier League.

I’m assuming that if they want £1 million for a 12 month loan, they’ll want 5-10x that for a full transfer (+big sell on fees, money on goals, promotions etc). They don’t need to sell and he did well for half a season. Someone will take a snap at it.

Haven't seen anything of him but have to question why he doesn't get any time at Everton. A team who can't score any goals. How good is he?

I didn't particularly want him to go, but for the time being, if it was on our terms, I'm happy enough with the deal.

If there is any truth in the Cannon rumour, it would certainly indicate we are in the market for another striker?.

If he could get into Everton's team, there wouldn't be a discussion on the prospect of him joining a Championship club. I get that. But is there such a chasm that a striker needed to be good enough to help us with a promotion push is not good enough to score a single goal in the Premier League? One goal would be enough to displace Maupay.

One goal would be enough to displace Maupay. Depends on how they play. Maupay has a great record in this league and a decent one in the PL (apart from last season at Everton). As a whole, Everton have been hanging on for years. There’s a rot that runs throughout their club.

www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/preston-transfer-news-tom-cannon-4270774Ryan Lowe outlines transfer Plan B for Preston North End as Tom Cannon deal in doubt Everton forward Tom Cannon has been North End’s primary target all summer, but a deal for last season’s loan star looks increasingly doubtful. Preston’s loan offer is still on the table, but the Toffees appear to be exploring the option of a permanent sale in the region of £5-7million. North End have been waiting to get the green light from Everton all window and Cannon, by all accounts, has been keen to head back to Deepdale for another loan stay. But, with transfer deadline day approaching and the window set to close at 11pm on Friday, North End are pressing on with other targets given the state of play with Cannon.

We need a proven goalscorer at this level.

If hes that good....Everton need him Everton have already signed a striker from Sporting Lisbon and another is on the way from Udinese, Dyche picked Dobbin on Saturday as well when he could have played Cannon up front. He has no way of getting into a poor Everton team as it stands.......................

PNE fans were very impressed - and a goal every 209 mins is very good for a first loan.
But, as has been said, if Dyche doesn't think he can add anything to this Everton strikeforce, even in the short-term, something doesn't add up
For something like an initial £3. something, suppose we could do far worse?

Not sure what I’m hoping for now. I’d have gone for Keinan Davis all day long. Not sure about any of the others linked, can’t say I’ve noticed any of them. I know Stewart scored against us but he certainly didn’t stand out and that’s probably the only game I’ve seen him play. If I’ve seen Cannon I don’t recall it so hopefully I just haven’t. The bloke at Cadiz seems some way down their pecking order, why? This is not a position I have much confidence in us getting right.
