I can't see us being interested in another centre forward this window. The Cannon link is probably from enquiries made earlier in the window before we signed Wesley and Mmaee.
Mmaee had a bit of a strop on Saturday when he was taken off. Can't see a third option for one position (or fourth if you count Gayle) going down very well especially one who will be expected to start most games.

Heard it down the ground Saturday when people were questioning campbells absence. If I was going make it up I would have thrown in some tenuous figures going there was as well 😂 I think I saw Tenuous Figures at The Corn Exchange early 90s. We’re they supporting out with a niggle?

Fair enough FM, it just seems a strange one to me unless Neil sees Mmaee as another wide option. Cannon isn't coming to sit on the bench. One or two must be off if this happens.

He has 20 apps for Preston and 8 goals (on Youtube). His Everton record is negligible, except 5 in 5 for U21. Really reminds me of Thorney.

Easily filthy enough to get the Bet365 tattooed meat out onto the table in a fit of excited rage. "Want 1M? How does 2M and a ride on this thing tickle your lips?" Get it done Pete...

i think given the chance Gayle will get goals in our team now if picked,,if a team comes in for him fair enough but i don,t like people running players down while they are playing for us,,

If Everton are considering splashing this kind of money on another striker (in addition to the other youngster they're after), you'd think Cannon's future there is limited

Would very possibly be a good addition. * I'm certainly not going to start joining in with all the strange homoeroticism that seems to proliferate on transfer speculation threads though

In the same way Davis’ is at Villa. They’ll loan him for extortionate fees for a few years, extend and boost his wage, continue to rinse Championship clubs for the pennies that they have, then eventually they may sell. Alternatively, they may accept a ridiculously bloated fee for a kid whose played half a season of football.

Glad it's not just me that is really irked by the setup of the PL, how they help 'distribute' the money unevenly then happily rinse clubs to get it back again.

www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/youssef-chermiti-tom-cannon-transfer-27488834Tom Cannon’s loan exit has been put on hold until Everton can get deals for new strikers done. The ECHO understands that the 20-year-old from Aintree was due to be at Preston North End today to seal a season-long switch to the Championship side. But Goodison Park chiefs will not give the green light on Cannon’s return to Deepdale – he netted eight goals in 21 games for Ryan Lowe’s side in the second half of last season – until they are able to bring in additional recruits up front themselves.

Can we financially outmuscle Leeds though with their parachute money? If we can net the signing for +£4m, offset against Jacob it would be good business. I wonder if Leeds might be fishing in a different pool.

Leeds sound like a basket case of a club at the moment . Players practically goin on strike so who would want to join them at the moment.

If we shell out 8 million on him we need sectioning. Should have kept brown and spent the extra 3 million on another CM FFS

As a discussion point, is the current midfield setup plus personnel efficient enough for a forward like Cannon? Would Mmaee drop into the 10 position or would Cannon slot in alongside Wesley somehow?
I think we need to be careful how and where we go from here. It's a test of the new recruitment department, where we are now potentially entering a high pressured last 2 weeks where cool heads are needed. A very different environment than an open book approach in June/July/early August where you have a blank canvas.

If we don’t get something vs Watford, then we’ve got Millwall away and Preston at home, games which have been difficult for us in the past. We need a strong end to the window by getting the right players in.

Alan Nixon@reluctantnicko Is there any suggestion anyone is minded to go anywhere near 8 for Cannon? No. But I wonder what a build up deal would achieve …
Nixon seems to be suggesting he thinks a deal with add-ons would have a chance.
