Doesn't really matter what we think, we aren't or won't be deciding. I feel we hung onto him for 6 months too long.

Crouch potato - I am not sure why you seem to like having a pop at me, considering some of the drivel spouted on here. I merely asked the question as to if anyone thought we should offer him a new contract, as have many on about a 7 page thread about Nick Powell, knowing as we all do, it won't be up to us to decide..

I hope for Jagielka's sake that he decides to retire. Better for him to bow out now rather than trying to play another season when he will find it increasingly hard to maintain standards.

Absolutely not. We can't let sentiment come into it. Hes been a great pro but his time is up.
I don't often criticise the club but if we offer Jags a new contract I will be fuming and very concerned for the future.

Id have him as backup - don't really get the willingness to move him on.
A big part of the problem has been relying on him this year to the point where he was being flogged to death playing more games than he had legs for.

We're entering our peak comedy era right now, so he will get a 1 year extension whether we like it or not.

He's supposedly on peanuts already and a new contract would likely be on less. He's a great pro and can still do a job if called upon.
His experience around the training ground is probably worth the £4k a week that he's apparently on.

The last thread on Jagielka was started on February 16th and is buried on page 7 of the board. What's the point of dredging that up for some random unrelated content? It just makes the board more difficult to use as you then have to go through pages and pages of unrelated stuff from months ago to find out what the latest post is about. It's not uncommon that somebody resurrects a 30 page thread and then by time you get to it, people have been talking for a further three pages and you then have to scour through until you can find what they are actually talking about. The board's a much better, more accessible place when there a nice new topics when somebody has something new to say. And yes, there are obvious exceptions such as a thread for dumping all of the transfer rumours.

Offer him another 6 months. We can't change all the team at once. Good player to have around and he has by no means been our worst player this season.

No team with aspirations of better times would even contemplate signing a player who will be 41 in August. As 40 England caps will testify, PJ has been a colossus of a player in the past but for us with our sights on better days it really is time to move on.

Had a good season up until recently, but you can tell his legs are starting to go. At 40 years old it's not surprising really.

As a fourth choice who may step in to play 10 games when there are injuries, yes. Otherwise, no.

Maybe as a player coach.
5th choice / last resort CB.
Being in the game as long as he has and to play at the standard he has for most of it he must have something about him that he can offer to the youngsters in particular.
He’s a model pro and would be good to have around the club as long as he knows that he won’t get much game time.
