I know he scored last night but lets not get carried away. I'd much rather have a newish VW but I don't like paying a premium for the same product so I drive a Skoda.

He would have been a hell of a player in his pomp, and you can see how MON and Neil talk about him that he's about as good as you'll get as a pro.
But I was still very surprised to learn when he joined that he'd got 40 England caps - and Gary Cahill had got 60.

He's a great talker as well, great captain for the remainder of the season, if Baker isn't playing.

Stripping Baker of the captaincy mid season would be a pointless humiliation of the player. Shawcross being captain did nothing to diminish the ability of others such as Huth, Whelan and Walters, to influence the team dynamic.

When it comes to free kicks, I think you couldn't beat a (Bill) Bentley.

He is an absolute credit to his profession and for those calling him fat I very much doubt it.
He is very thick waisted but it's probably due to a lot of abdominal work throughout is career to help support his back which is very important especially with centre backs.

Would or should we give him a new contract for at least another season. Comes across as a good egg off the field, a nice bloke. Coped well with Gykores on Saturday.

I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be given a pay as you play deal of sorts or a 6 month rolling contract. He’s not what he was but has been the epitome of a model pro since he’s been here.

Same as this season - a contract until January with the option of an extension. Agreed. He’s decent at worst in this league. Shouldn’t feature more than once a week but is typically solid when he plays. All squads need experienced players and if we got rid, we’d only go and replace him with someone like Flint.
