I don't have a big problem with Wrexham. They had over 15 years of absolute misery in the National League and weren't far off going bust at some points with a crumbling ground and seemingly no hope. They were also desperately unlucky not to get promoted on 2 or 3 occasions but got screwed by the really unfair one automatic promotion place system in that division. They finished second with really high points totals that would win the league in most seasons before losing in the playoffs lottery. If any team deserves the fortune of being taken over by Hollywood millionaires it's probably them. At least they have history and a decent fan base that can sustain a rise up the divisions. With ground improvements coming up they definitely have the fan base to sustain Championship level football in the future and could definitely pull in crowds in the 15-20,000 bracket. It's a very different scenario to the likes of Salford City, Forest Green and Fleetwood where extremely small non league clubs with no history or fan base have been bankrolled way above their natural level with no long term hope of being able to sustain that level if and when the funding is eventually pulled. With the right foundations Wrexham comfortably have the fan base to sustain upper League One/lower Championship level off their own backs. With the investment they're recieving and the ground improvements which are starting they should soon have those foundations. Excellent post. I don’t begrudge Wrexham their fairytale as god knows they’ve suffered. In fact I remember around 2005 their former owner trying to sell the ground for housing development and effectively kill the club. And then getting trapped in that hellhole conference for almost a generation… There’s a part of me that is getting slightly agitated by all the media exposure in recent times. They’ve become trendy in a way that irks me for some deeper psychological reasons. Maybe some envy. To be fair I do think the two famous owners are class acts. And Hugh Jackman was there yesterday who is also a class act as far as I can tell. Maybe I’m just green with envy. I am fairly sure though that a lot of new Wrexham “fans” around the world probably think they’ve been promoted to the premiership. And the level of media exposure they receive means maybe you’d be forgiven for mistakenly believing that. But I agree that their natural level is probably league one. Maybe a Rotherham or wigan type who should be yo-yoing between 3rd/2nd tier.

By their fantastic marketing, which leads to sponsorship and fantastic gates… they are the Man City of Div 2, but I know which team I wish the best of luck to… (not Man C ), so enjoying Wrexhams story 👍 The Racecourse has a capacity of about 10,700. Swindon got near that and finished midtable. Bradford got 16k last year and scraped into the playoffs. There’s really just not a lot of money down there. They’ll get good money on sponsorship, I suppose. Sure, if they sold each ticket at $100 and maxed out, they’d be a step above. However, they broke non-league records for income last year (around £6 million) and still lost £2.9 million. They are only allowed to have wages at 55% of turnover, so they have to play by more rules now than they had to in the conference. Due to the social media numbers and worldwide interest, they are getting serious dough for things like sponsorship United Airlines sponsoring the front of the shirt, HP Inc on the sleeve and VistaPrint on the back of the shirt. They get paid £400k per episode of Welcome to Wrexham. Have sold something like 30,000 shirts last season. Held 2 sold out concerts with the Kings of Leon. They will easily piss FFP to get through the leagues

Wrexham can have a playing budget double to what the 7 up bottlers down the road have, just simply from the money they receive from Welcome to Wrexham

Once the ground is completed and full every week they will piss FPP with the sponsorship they get. Only a matter of time before they reach the top. Far bigger club than Bournemouth or Luton. Will probably match us in size but are a lot richer.

About time any Welsh teams were fucked off from the English football league. Never mind considering inviting Celtic & Rangers 🙄

I'll grant you, Wrexham have had a couple of decent runs in Europe but that's down to them winning the Welsh Cup. Although Luton would have played in European competition had English clubs not been banned at the time.

Just looked and he's only an investor in most of them 😀
