I have to own up to being a huge cynic when it comes to the autheticity of celebrities particularly actors. But I have to say these two guys appear genuinely engaged with the club and town, fair play to them. But people saying they will go all the way to the championship is bizzare, Wrexham are a relatively small club from a small town compared to the likes of Sheff Weds, Derby and a couple who will always drop from championship to league 1 they will meet if they manage to get out of league 2. As for the hysteria around wrexham f.c generating huge interest to visit the town....don't go there it is, and always was a shithole. Nearby LLangollen, now thats a different story Agree that Wrexham are historically a small club but I think you’re underestimating the power of social media in 2023. (and beyond) Wrexham now have an insane social media buzz and it shows no signs of slowing. In fact; even ignoring the money from their owners and all the Hollywood associated investment they’ll be able to attract as they move up the leagues, I think it’s likely that their social media revenue will give them a financial edge over basically every club in league 2 and many (if not all) in league one. They have 100s of 1000s of followers across the main social media platforms. And the signing of social media savvy Foster (whilst a top class keeper) seems to suggest they’re looking to further tap into that as part of their business model. 4 get promoted from league 2 so I’ll be shocked if they don’t just ride the wave and get promoted again next year. Then league one with some huge clubs is where it gets interesting I suppose as that’s a way bigger step up than conference to league two. I found some twitter facts today on Wrexham on the day they played Notts County but I have no idea how to post the screen shot on here. Total Twitter mentions: Wrexham v Notts County - 61,923 Liverpool v Arsenal - 61,795 Full Time Announcement Total Twitter Views Wrexham - 10.5 million Arsenal - 2.9 million Liverpool - 1.8 million

Not a big gan of Welsh teams in the English league. Cant see them doing much myself. A honeymoon period then a reality shock will hit them. USA backers will soon realise the cost of running a proffessional foitball club and will leave quietly. Visited the Racecourse ground a few times with Stoke and England. When wat hing England play Wales years past they dicked us 4-0 Mike England was their Manager. As with Stoke it was mixed rezults and a good day out on the beers with Stoke fans invading North Wales on some sort of crazy crusade. Press will soon forget them when the wheels start to come of the Wrexham band wagon. Good luck to old Stoke signing Foster. One last pay day for him is what is keeping hom going. No mixed results with Stoke we always win there

I also wish in a way it was Notts who got promoted as I am sick of the media jizzfest on Wrexham as well, but it will mean we are no longer the oldest club in the league if Notts win the play=offs (discounting Forest who has fiddle with their claim they are the oldest) ive noticed that Crystal palace have done the same saying they were formed in 1861 That has already been kaboshed by the football authorities as the 1861 club is only linked through the area name and not a continuous association with a football club. People argue about us going bankrupt/liquidation but we are still the same club that is linked to "Stoke FC" that was formed earlier and has been accepted as the original. Despite the Nottingham Forrest hoo haa... we are still officially recognised as the world's oldest professional club currently in a professional league. I do know that the Cambridge University team is trying to challenge the oldest club in the world tag, but Sheffield FC are still officially the oldest club still playing.

How does it translate into cash? They will need to play by FFP rules now they are in the league. Each league they encounter is met by the fact that it costs more money to buy players of relatively top quality. It’s one thing to outspend and outmaneuver clubs in the conference, it’s another to do it in the league given that you also need to play by the rules. Followers on Twitter from the US doesn’t equate to butts on seats at live games.

By their fantastic marketing, which leads to sponsorship and fantastic gates… they are the Man City of Div 2, but I know which team I wish the best of luck to… (not Man C ), so enjoying Wrexhams story 👍

Swindon got near that and finished midtable. Bradford got 16k last year and scraped into the playoffs. There’s really just not a lot of money down there. They’ll get good money on sponsorship, I suppose. Sure, if they sold each ticket at $100 and maxed out, they’d be a step above. However, they broke non-league records for income last year (around £6 million) and still lost £2.9 million. They are only allowed to have wages at 55% of turnover, so they have to play by more rules now than they had to in the conference.

Media whore signs for media whore's! Birmingham City becoming the same aswell now Tom Bradys appeared wearing a Blues shirt on a vid for them! The Bluenoses celebrate every new ownership announcement like this is the one that's going to take them to the promised land and make them great again! Remember them thinking they'd made it big when Carson Yeung took over, that ended well! They seem to think that having hot dogs droned into their seats at half time and pom pom waving girls at the side of the pitch is going to bring them back to the glory days! Foreign owners and investors who get parachuted into clubs wearing club merchandise like they've always supported/followed the club always sure raises alarm bells with me. Granted some start off well but when the funded they soon scurry off leaving a big mess. QPR and Tony Fernández being a classic example. Many more out there. Short term gain for long term pain is what usually happens with these media whore take overs!

Although saying that, they have won something that we commemorate every year that we won 51 years ago, twice and the latest being only 13yrs ago! We always class 72 as being our great period..

The ground is only 6 miles from my house so I'm duty bound to wish them luck but they've not strengthened their squad much and i don't see them walking the division with their main scorer out injured as well. The odds are way too short with the bookies.

Can see them getting annoying if they rise even further. Can't see them getting above league 1 without big investment. Look at Salford and they're ran by football people. The only advantage they'd have over Salford is sponsorship deals which could earn them money, but if they can do it why can't we with bet365? They're under ffp aren't they?

Despite their famous backers and wealth & dreams of glory ahead that'll only carry them so far & they'll still reach their natural ceiling, Salford City being a prime example.

I don't have a big problem with Wrexham. They had over 15 years of absolute misery in the National League and weren't far off going bust at some points with a crumbling ground and seemingly no hope. They were also desperately unlucky not to get promoted on 2 or 3 occasions but got screwed by the really unfair one automatic promotion place system in that division. They finished second with really high points totals that would win the league in most seasons before losing in the playoffs lottery. If any team deserves the fortune of being taken over by Hollywood millionaires it's probably them.
At least they have history and a decent fan base that can sustain a rise up the divisions. With ground improvements coming up they definitely have the fan base to sustain Championship level football in the future and could definitely pull in crowds in the 15-20,000 bracket. It's a very different scenario to the likes of Salford City, Forest Green and Fleetwood where extremely small non league clubs with no history or fan base have been bankrolled way above their natural level with no long term hope of being able to sustain that level if and when the funding is eventually pulled. With the right foundations Wrexham comfortably have the fan base to sustain upper League One/lower Championship level off their own backs. With the investment they're recieving and the ground improvements which are starting they should soon have those foundations.
