As JC alluded to at the recent MTM event, it seems there is major work coming to the stadium in the summer (although other than a fan park I’m intrigued to see where)
So much so, Frank Warren (boxing promoter) confirmed today the club pulled the plug on a Heaney fight at the stadium in the summer because of it, which is a real real shame, as they’ve been only so happy to piggyback off his success otherwise.
Although we all know they’d only make a mess of the transport anyway…

Hopefully they are knocking the south stand corner down

I'm not ITK at all but my guess would be extending the size of the concourses in the Boothen End and the Tile Mountain stand - to match the size of the concourses of the new corner.
Regulations on sizes of them changed between the new stadium being built and the new corner and I reckon they will use this summer to do that.
It would make sense in one way as it's the type of project you could get done in a summer.

Get the last corner done. Isn’t there 2… I was scratching my head aswell. Although the horseshoe shape gives me excellent memories of my visit to the Vicente' Calderón. Just missing an extra screen with enormous Coca-Cola advertisement.

I’ve always thought of things they could do:
-New fan zone -Expanding concourse size -Relocated ticket office -Tunnel corner redevelopment with hotel/offices/museum development -Central players tunnel added following digging under the main stand -Improved fan access (bridges/subways added to the main roundabout) -New slip road onto A50 - Better car/bus management -Offsite/nearby “community stadium” for academy & women’s games

A bigger concourse would be brilliant for me being in a chair, it’s a bit of a squeeze though I am yet to roll over anyone’s toes! Maybe it could lead to a bit of a new look from outside the ground to make it modern.
The museum idea above is a nice one. I’m not sure what already exists through the posh doors in the main stand though.

Free up space, and anywhere else around the ground. The police carrier park grass near the entrance? To serve home and away fans

There's plenty of artifacts & display pieces that could make a museum a place for us celebrate our past and worthy of visiting. Would be good if fans could donate/loan pieces of retro merchandise to display. I've got a fair bit of old bits & pieces that would look better mounted in frames in a club museum than packed away in a drawer..

Unless they're demolishing 1000 houses to make way for this development, I've no interest in knowing what poxy work they may be planning.

Expanding the concourse should be first on the list, let’s face it it’s more than cramped when the gate is over 20k. I don’t see any point in spending any money on filling in corners, Too many empty seats as it is ( I hope that changes next season) and I would rather the money be invested in the playing squad.

A museum is a great idea and would help me out no end …..😀 we have loads of memorabilia, trophies , medals, awards , stuff dad was presented with . The list is endless, I thought it would be better to try and keep a lot of it together as a collection, rather than divide it up. As a family we’ve grown up with all these things and they are familiar to us, but I always thought it would be nice for other people to see them. Things were squirrelled away over the years, right back to dads school report.and his army/national service days, plus an extensive photo collection. As I’m struggling for storage, this would solve my problem in one go 😄

Whilst a museum is a nice idea I don't think it's viable. Once the fans that want to visit have visited, who does it attract?

And what demand would there be for offices with no facilities nearby?

To expand the concourses would they have to cut into the grass bank behind the stand? Not much room out there now when loads of people milling about.. also they can spend as much as they want on the stadium etc won't affect what they can spend on players.

We need a wind breaker on the left side of the main stand. Like the one West Brom have. It looks horrible with that big hole showing as it looks today.

There isn't an obvious quick way to do it because there's no obvious wasted space underneath the stands to extend into. So it would surely require an extension outwards which would involve a lot of heavy structural work. And the pathways outside would need to be moved outwards to accommodate the outwards extension. Unless I'm thinking about it wrong (I'm certainly no architect or structural engineer) it just feels like something that would be very expensive and take a while to do.

Three possibles re the increase to the original £20m ( other than costs increasing due to inflation , brexit , covid etc )
1) Theyve widened the list of work
2 ) Issues were found last year during the Ricardo and hospitality suites redevelopments that impact on other parts of the stadium ,future projects
3) After bad PR they kind of committed to sorting out Norton .. ( woman's and occasional academy use ) ..presumably they have a plan a , b and c by now for that that .. plan a being temporary porta cabin type first stage solution .. plan b new permanent dressing rooms etc ..plan c full bells and whistles likely low millions as a minimum perhaps to include the leasehold .. has any work started there or has anyone seen any planning applications being put in
Anything other than standard pitch work , ( that can still cost a hell of a lot ) or at Clayton will likely be very careful PR managed to help build the general feel good factor

They can spend on it whatever they want but it'll always be in Smallthorne, hardly known for its links to Stoke City is it.

Indeed , presumably the question of relocating may be considered as part of the long term plans .. especially if they have serious ( costly ) mid to long term plans on and off the pitch .. which is why I say plan a would be a temporary fix to buy time ..but not really the long term one Finding a new ( ground share ) home and fitting our fixtures in with an existing owner / tenant fixtures is easier said than done of course I’ll be honest I’m not into woman’s football ..in my view they should stand alone with if necessary government funding to help grow the sport especially at grass roots, but appreciate others are very interested of which some believe they should come under the umbrella of existing men’s club Edit to add .. it’s not women's football par se I’m against or anything personal .. I’d have the same views if we started up a men’s handball , basketball or any other sport under the umbrella of the club similar to happens in some countries , …we struggle as it is to focus on the task , without diverting time. , resources or focus into other avenues .. the weomens side now comes under the umbrella of the TD I believe .. that means if he’s fair to them diverting some of his time and attention away from where IMO all his time & focus should be
