I kind of liked Whelan, he was just always there, never did anything particularly noticeable, but by god we noticed once his legs were going at Prem level and we have noticed that gap ever since. Step forward Mr Pearson, Whelan 2 point 0 , a shit house, a tackler , a calming influence , easy not to notice because he allows Smallbone , the fullbacks the forwards to press on the front foot and take the plaudits, god how we have missed Whelan 2.0, please sign him up!!

I like the analogy especially if we can get ‘Iluvglenwhelan’ to come back as ‘Iluvbenpearson’. Who can forget the Whelan haircuts thread.

The Manager completely changed the team by making 4 changes. Arguably the best 4 players on the pitch. That is when we fell to pieces. Put it down to the Manager. Thankfully Blackburn ran out of time.

Thankfully Blackburn ran out of time. To be fair to the manager, he should be able to take his best 4 players off and rest them with ten minutes to go at 3-0 up…. It’s just a shame the like for like replacements for said four players include Clucas and Thompson.

Pearson is an incredible player at this level and Smallbone has improved immensely since he’s arrived
He’d be the first player we should try to sign

If we can only get two of the loans in, then Pearson and Sarky every time for me.

He reminds me of Billy Bremner, I know we hated 'dirty Leeds' but he was a player I based my own game on as a kid, largely because I was also a shortarse and he was probably the best shortarse in football at the time.

Him and Laurent compliment each other so well and it frees that front four (plus the full backs) so much. We need to sign him.

There’s kids on here that won’t know what we are talking about!

Pearson is a first-class passer of the ball. Whelan could put his foot in just as well, but sadly it seemed a struggle for him to even pass water.

Whelan’s passing would have been perfectly fine in the Championship, especially in THIS Championship. Pearson looks excellent for us but he hasn’t been an integral part of a Premier League team and when he’s been in a team known for passing it about, they’ve decided he’s not up to standard.

Pearson is better than Whelan. Sorry….. 28 and has yet to make that step up. Whelan played almost 300 games in the Premier League. May as well compare the performances of league 1 versus Championship players.

Pearson is better than Whelan. Sorry….. Miles better. Pearson can break up the play and then get it forward, Whelan could only destroy. I loved Whelan for reference.

He’s more like Delap who I always thought was far superior to Whelan.
