There has apparently been some discussion lately about the positioning of our remarkably understated celebration of our leading goal scorer. Behind the Boothen end sounds fitting, but against a wall next to a bin is a disgrace! I'm sure there's been other threads about this (I've been through three pages looking) but the is the Leader! Outside the main entrance seems a common suggestion and I see the merit in that, but this man is LEADER of the Boothen end. Why not ON the Boothen end!?!?

People (quite rightly) have been complaining about this insulting placement since it was put there.
Too low, next to a bin and not properly lit. Should have been obvious to anyone with a brain.

I believe that it was mentioned at the last meeting between the Supporters group & the club Management.

I've seen that obviously but I've not seen any suggestion for placement other than the main entrance. For me John should be in with the fans! On the Boothen would be perfect!

Put the plinth in the centre circle. The extra movement and ball control would be a novelty

This club is a joke, who on earth makes these decisions? It’s like The Apprentice. I despair that people are paid to make this kind of decision🤦🏻♂️

What an insult.....get this sited in a prominent position. One thing for sure, non of the current crop of strikers will ever have a tribute built. They are not fit to lick Big John's boots!

Big Johns bust should be placed outside of Ricardos/Delilahs so its a focal point and noticed by all walking past - that bin next to it is a shocker of a decision but thats been said for years
No idea why Stans statue isnt front and central outside reception - there is loads of space there Am sure the big idea originally was that you could see if from the A50 driving past, but the trees/shrubs have grown so big its lost
Banksys statue is perfectly placed, and fans - home and away - often stop for a photo at the top of the ramp

30 goals in his first full season and 29 in the second. 81 goals in 135 appearances.
Oh for a John Ritchie now.
I wonder if we put his bust on the pitch he would score more than Gayle?

We should be celebrating all our players properly. No idea why the club don't line both sides of the road as you come in, or on the slope around the back of the away end with players from our entire history.
The Stanley Matthews statue should also be closer to the main stand. Yes, i know it's meant to face our old ground, but there's bushes in the way now, and it's just out of the way. If it had been left to me, i'd have raised higher, and placed it front of the main stand, and had benches around it, with some sort of styled topiary, to make it feel good.
It's madness to have put that John Ritchie one there, just insanity. Who thought it would be good there?!
Our clubs thinking off the pitch is so behind the times. No visual ideas, or direction at all.

Surely they can trim a few bushes a few times a year ?

The whole thing is badly thought out. A bust? For a striker? Really? It should be a full figure in flight trying to head a ball, not some shrunken head thing on a plinth. Then to put it next to a dustbin just adds insult to injury. It needs a complete reboot, melt the current embarrassment down, create a full figure like Banks/Matthews and start again by putting it outside the entrance. It's not that difficult people. Currently it's as much a tribute as that Michael Jackson thing.

We may as well have 11 statues on the pitch. Lack of movement, imagination and effort is a shinning example of how NOT to play football. Big John, Sir Stan and Banksy must be spinning in their graves.

Always see that when I think of big John. I remember as a kid being at the old Victoria ground a guy never stopped moaning about what a donkey big John was. Then he went and scored. Not a lot has changed in supporting culture over the years!

It's to match the thinking on the pitch. Prehistoric management from a board of dinosaurs. "What's all the fuss about?"

I always thought it was John’s family who wanted his statue at the back of the Boothen End. This is the problem. The family should also be contacted if this is being looked into as stated elsewhere, as I’m pretty sure they would be. My memory recalls the idea of its positioning was so John was behind the Boothen End looking toward the old Boothen End/Victoria Ground. If this was the family’s wish then obviously it should be explained why we now feel it’s time to move it.
