Awful news for her family. How can she have been missed during such an extensive search of the river. RIP Has anyone seen Captain Searchlight? Man was never off the telly for 3 weeks and not heard a peep today. Mr. William-Thomas is another for that matter.

RIP Nicola. The head of the diving team, Specialist Group International, who stated she was “categorically not” in the river is going to look a right tit now. That bloke is a cock and was only ever after self promotion of his business. I’d like to say I have been astonished at some of the rubbish theories out there, but sadly the great British public never ceases to amaze; I think my favourite was she was taken by a big, wild cat, but now people are suggesting she has been put back in the river…Jesus H Christ! If this does turn out to be Nicola then she will be systematically, forensically examined and once there is no evidence of foul play (which appears to be the case from the get go by the police hypothesis) there are going to be some very stupid people shown up for what they are. I imagine they will be falling over each other to apologise to the police and the hurt they have caused Nicola’s family. RIP Nicola, or whoever the poor sole is if it’s not her. Obviously none of us know what happened it might not even be her, I would be surprised if nobody is nicked over it, and if it is her she must have been well concealed Or maybe not the police and searchers were incompetent nincompoops, my knowledge comes from silent witness

I was walking along the Dee in Chester last year and a guy was trying to reach his dog on the other side of a bush he was lucky that a couple of canoeists came past and helped to untangle him from a submerged branch entangled with his collar.

It's the police who have put her body in the river because they're trying to cover up their inadequate investigation apparently... Words fail me. Just how thick and insensitive can people be.

How many times did we hear an “expert” say the river flows in a particular way or the person must be in a particular place? Speak to any diver, be they recreational or professional, and they will tell you that if visibility in water is poor, you move by touch and feel. So, imagine searching that river, which does flow, by touch? I would be most surprised if anyone is nicked. The police hypothesis was out early doors, which although it was unusual to go public, is what they do in a missing person investigation….they have to have a working strategy based upon the information at hand or they end up chasing their tale and wasting resources. They must have been quite confident in their hypothesis, which at the moment seems like it may well be accurate. Whether there is any third party involvement remains to be seen, but if they believed there was there would have been a lot more coming from the police around witnesses, suspicious persons etc. The previous police attendance with health care professionals a few weeks ago may be key to subsequent events. I suspect what may never be established is whether she(if it is indeed Nicola) went in intentionally or accidentally.

Her family should now be left alone to grieve. Some of the shite they’ve been put through on top of a wife and Mum being missing is unspeakably vile.

Hopefully Kay Burley will be amongst those queuing up to apologise to her viewers and Nicola's family, her confrontational & egotistical self reporting of this matter on the three week anniversary last week was quite shocking really. When the Sky News head crime analyst Martin Brunt was talking about the cirqs and reiterated that Nicola may have fallen into the water, she quickly adopted her usual cocky and sarcastic self, almost mocking Martin Brunt for dare to even reiterate what the police synopsis was. Oh yeah, this is self absorbed Kay Burley we're talking about, no chance she'll apologise or retract her sarcasm. She'll simply be lining up another politician to belittle & poke and prod! 🙄😬

Awful. Just awful.
What is wrong with people ? Here in ‘sleepy’ Exeter there’s been more dreadful incidents than ever before. Just this weekend a 74 year old woman stabbed in broad daylight in an Exeter park. She died and a 30 year old from Exmouth was in court this morning. I despair of people increasingly often these days.

Well after having the night to think of an excuse to cover up his company’s utter balls up in missing Nicola’s body when claiming she was not in the water, the best he has come out with this morning is that his state of the art, expensive sonar equipment is unable to pick things up in reeds! What a muppet, hope he enjoyed his 15 minutes!

The public have been saturated with misery both in the news and social media and it’s driving even the most sane of us into some murky places. For those already with issues around anger it’s pushing them to commit the most terrible of acts. Just feels like we all need a break from it all and some cheer to raise our spirits.

They hide under the veil of trying to get to the truth, but really all they are interested in is sensationalising a story and looking for an angle to have a go at someone. If this means someone is damaged or used in the process, fair enough…they are expendable. There is just no accountability with them at all, yet they make their reporting to be about seeking the truth whilst practising staggering hypocrisy as they go about their business.

I think it was pretty clear she was dead. At least this news can give the family the start of trying to find closure. Obviously there will need to be enquiries and autopsies and all that. But I can’t imagine what it’s like having a bit of hope when you must know deep down your loved is more than likely dead.

Got be honest I still don't get how someone drowns there unless they can't swim or filled their pockets.
The bit for me that I'll never get and maybe folk just have differing thought processes. However if my wife or sister was missing doubt I'd set up multiple JustGiving pages and change the beneficiaries especially for the period where the outcome is uncertain.

However if my wife or sister was missing doubt I'd set up multiple JustGiving pages and change the beneficiaries especially for the period where the outcome is uncertain. It’s so unusual isn’t it. She wouldn’t have fallen in unless she had been standing by the river bank’s edge, slipped in and got caught on the reeds or had willingly jumped in. But if the latter was the case, surely she’d have ended up in the middle of the river. At the end of the day, there’s only one living thing that knows what happened. And that’s the dog.
