I have it on good authority that it will be either a Premier League team, Championship team, or one of the winners of the FA Cup second round teams. It will be played either home or away.

3rd round is 7th of January .. same day as a proposed rail strike .. so home or away kinda takes the edge of it TBH
And the 5th round if we get that far is mid week

Best option is the weakest team at home. The only thing we can hope for in a cup is to develop some youngsters. We’re not going to do that against anyone decent.

If we are going out in the early rounds, then let it be to a Premiership side, going out to a lower league side won't do our confidence any good atall.

Away v Sunderland ticks all the usual boxes : it's s stupid distance away, totally unglamourous and underwhelming, not much chance of winning and they've got a grudge to wield.
