Only Stoke could take a prolific Championship goalscorer and one of the most sought after young strikers in the country and turn them to shit.
It is incredible really.

Zero goals between them. None Nil Nowt. Doesn’t help when you have crap like Smallbone as your creative midfielder. You can have the best players in the world up front, but if they don’t get the ball, they can’t do much.

We chased Dwight Gayle for years. Finally get him when he’s shot to pieces and past it

I can’t blame the strikers when the formation is wank. If he played 433. Then see how it goes..

Stick Dwight Gayle in any other team in this division and he gets 15 plus goals.
We really are a graveyard for strikers.

Just a month ago this was a promotion capable squad and Alex Neil came in saying he expects to take us out of the division this season or next with the squad available.
I didn't realise he meant into League One.
Aside from beating a Hull side which last lost 5 in a row. We've been shocking under Alex Neil.
Wrong appointment.

What I don’t understand is why we’re sticking with the O’Neill blueprint that clearly wasn’t working? He’s supposedly a manager who makes an impact at new clubs yet he’s clinging onto the issues he inherited, continuing to utilise them, and is somehow making them worse. I don’t get it.

He's apparently trotting out the excuse that we have a squad set up for 3-5-2. Which is absolute bollocks.

We create square root of bugger all for any striker to work with mind. We created a chance for Delap, he tried to be a clever bastard and scoop it in to the top corner instead of doing what Davis did….

We don’t put decent crosses in We don’t put decent through bald in We don’t support the strikers so no pass and move
No striker would score regularly how we play

Or a striker nearing the end of his career who hasn’t played much in the last 2 years and a young rookie striker finding has way in a punishing league. Add into this no creativity and our ponderous movement of the ball is it such a surprise they haven’t scored between them.

I get that Delap is 19 and still learning but I haven’t seen much at all from him that suggests he’s ready for this level. We should be playing 4-3-3 with Gayle up top, Campbell on the right, DWP or Fosu on the left.
