2 teams slugging it out and end to end
Fair play Swansea they came and had a right go and could of scored 4 themselves
Entertainment has broken out

I think that is OTT Some good bits, some bad bits Work in progress, needs to be better Seriously? Of course it’s a work in progress and we need to be better ( that’s a different discussion ) but how anybody didn’t enjoy that is beyond me? From the first minute to the last it was enjoyable with both teams having spells Each to their own though

I enjoyed it, sort of. Alex has only had 2 days to get a good look. Stuck with the same squad which is probably the right thing to do. He has to get into their heads now, they are brainwashed to go backwards square etc, over cautious. Give him time. Come Sunday I think there will be one or two tweaks personality wise and a bit more composure. It was all a bit over excited stuff at kick off, they scored and we went back into our shells at times. Great attitude and a deserved equaliser in the end, any fan going there tonight and expecting miraculous improvement, well, it was never going to happen. Roll on Sunday, a win and 7 points from 9 will be a good week.

We went for it from the off. Gltook ages to recover from the goal.
Thought the midfield set up was horrific.

It was a decent game with both sides going for it. Severely lacking in quality though.

If MON had been in charge tonight he'd of got slaughtered with that. We wouldn't have got a point if MON was still here. Apart from the first 5 minutes we sat back invited pressure and backed off them, like I said on the other thread he's only had 2 days with the squad so I won't pass judgement yet but was nothing different than a MON side.

I think that is OTT Some good bits, some bad bits Work in progress, needs to be better But that wasn't the point. The point was he enjoyed that match. End to end, kept on going to the end, dug in when needed, always looking to keep pushing up. From going from being drilled for 3 years of 5 at the back to trying to drive forward more I could see the effort from them. If we got the early goal I think we would have flowed

The bars being set low for Alex Neil.
Stealing a last minute point at home to a team that's won once in 13 competetive games. And some on here celebrating it as if its a great result and performance.
Top goalscorer over last 2 seasons put into an un natural wide left position. Gayle in an un natural wide right. Centre back at right back. Our most creative midfielder out of those starting playing the furthest back. Sam Clucas playing a full 90 minutes.
That performance might nick a point against Swansea at home. But against Sheffield or Watford we'd have conceded at least 3. They cut through us far too easily.

I didn’t think it was that different from the boro game, the main difference being they were shite so you always felt they’d gift us an equaliser if we couldn’t fashion one ourselves.

I agree- good entertainment, much more attacking, front foot football, but yeah, lacking a bit of quality.
Can't believe some of what I'm reading tbh. Thought people would be buzzing to actually watch us attack a team and rescue a point in an open game. Obviously not in some cases.

I'm very interested to see where he takes the team in the short and medium term. Not quite convinced we have the tools to play the high octane game we were trying but time will tell.
The late goal is a very good early sign though.

The late goal is a very good early sign though. Not fit enough for a start, but we looked pretty good doing it for the first 40 minutes. Much better than watching us plod around passing sideways anyway.

I really can't believe the negativity on tonights game. Far better than what we've been used to and it was Neil's first proper game, although he has had minimum input.
I enjoyed it and am very optimistic about the remainder of the season.

Of course perspective is needed and that's why I rated him a 6 which I felt is fair. Especially given the injuries. But this is a Swansea side that's difficult to lose against. So I don't think escaping the Jaws of defeat in stoppage time is something to celebrate. It wasn't a great performance and we need to be doing alot better. Let's call a spade a spade.

A few have unsurprisingly missed the point I was making
I’m not on about who controlled the game and who looked better going forward etc
I’m on about the actual match and the entertainment value

There was more intent than under soporific O'Neil ball but I was a bit underwhelmed overall to be honest. The goal they scored was schoolboy stuff again.
I expect a fair few changes for Sunday. Fosu and Campbell have to start. Taylor needs a rest as does Gayle. The problem we have is that we probably have to stick with Fox and Clucas and that's not the managers fault.

He didn't want to change a winning team and I totally get that.
I expect they'll be big changes at the weekend with 2 or 3 players who we won't be seeing much of again.
