Agreed - I enjoyed the match, although it wasn't a great performance. The two aren't mutually exclusive for me, although a draw is more enjoyable than a loss of course. Swansea's goal knocked the stuffing out of us after what was a great start, but I thought the midfield needed shaking up in the first half. With 5 subs available, why not? Fosu and Smallbone could have played themselves into starting at the weekend. Brown was good but along with Gayle, seemed wasted in those wide positions. Neil has only had 1 day with most of the players. I expect changes at the weekend and much more of a game plan. The referee didn't help, and I think important decisions went in Swansea's favour. I was just going to say the same. I can't do Wednesday matches so I can't comment on last night but as I read the thread I was wondering why there were comments about our team performance. A match can be exciting and enjoyable even if the quality isn't good. For example on Saturday at Mickleover they went a goal down, had a man sent off, equaised, had another man sent off, equalised again with 10 minutes to go and scored the winner in injury time. Everybody was buzzing as they walked away from the ground. As enjoyment went for a fan even at a top quality match you wouldn't get a more exciting match with highs and lows. I do think an injury time goal affecting the result helps to make a game enjoyable. (As long as it's for your team!)

2 teams slugging it out and end to end Fair play Swansea they came and had a right go and could of scored 4 themselves Entertainment has broken out It was garbage - lumping the ball over misfits in midfield - to (non target men) strikers However, not blaming new man - just scrapping for points which effort rather than skill delivered Plenty of time for the improvement which we all expect will be forthcoming (me - ever the optimist!)

Isn’t that a different argument though? It was relatively entertaining (something we’ve being missing for the most part of MON’s reign). I commented, mid second half, that this would be quite enjoyable for a neutral - Not quality, but two teams slugging it out (as has been said) and creating plenty of chances.

I guess that you have a point However, for Stoke fans looking for some signs of progress, there was very little to see Therefore, for most of the fans, I suspect that the game was anything but entertaining - hence the booing

On that basis, the author is not a typical Stoke fan - but maybe he knows that....

It was entertaining because the defences of both teams were bloody awful.
Most of our chances came about because their keeper was very kind in passing it straight to our players (Reminds me of Joe Bursik)
THeir chances came because our central defenders are basically immobile oil tankers.
There wasnt much quality on show apart from the lad Cooper playing in the 10 role for Swansea.
Its worrying when we have big names like Gayle/Delap/Baker with big reputations and can hardly string 2 passes together.

I think Neil's focus is, he wants the players to be more confident and play with more intensity.
If he can achieve that , it will make a huge difference.
He is asking for what should be a given, but hasn't been how Stoke play for years.
I am quietly optimistic, he is thinking on the right lines and will in a stuttering way , improve the club significantly.
Ultimately, he is going to be good for us

We should have been 2-0 up within the first 5 minutes, then they completely fluked a goal due to flint’s incompetence. Who also missed a sitter of a free header towards the end. Twice they threw bodies in the way of goal bound efforts. We could have had 3 or 4 easily. On another day we would have absolutely hammered Swansea.

Pretty sure it was Taylor at fault for their goal as their striker was behind flint so Taylor could see him but didn't track his run. Also think he knew it and let it affect his game.

The booing was daft (unless it WAS for the ref) considering it was Neil’s first game. I did say ‘entertaining for a neutral’, so we agree that it was a bit different than that, for us Stokies.

I’m still buzzing from last night I’m not gonna lie.
I feel genuinely excited for what’s ahead. It’s very strange.
