If you're going to start a thread like this, at least give those who haven't heard the interview an idea of what the man has said! Tbh I just wanted to start this thread fast because I'd look like a right tit if by the time I made it someone else already had.

Very sad to see.
Unfortunately he is now settling into the “dead man walking “ phase of being a manager who is now past their sell by date.
We can all see the persistence with this 532 insanity isn’t,and hasn’t been working, for almost six months.
I remember when O Neil had the freedom of thinking to try different approaches, to take a risk, knowing that he wasn’t under any pressure, because they weren’t HIS players.
I think there is a certain amount of blinkered thinking once a manager has been at a club for a period of time. There seems to be a mentality that it may show weakness if the way of playing doesn’t bare fruit, and an element of stubbornness which results.
We are now in dangerous territory that he has backed himself into a corner. A cornered lion, that is simply lashing out, living on instinct, hoping to find a lucky blow, that can change things and maybe survive and find a way out from the corner he has backed himself into.
Very concerning.

If he's saying we don't have defenders to play back 4. Or we don't have wingers...
Then clearly his recruitment of players has left our squad with no plan B.
We will play 5 at the back until he goes because the squad he has put together is not good enough in his eyes to play any other formation.

He's simply telling the truth. We aren't a side capable of winning automatic promotion. I'd go further than that and say the entire club isn't set up for it. There are way too many holes from the top down and I question if there is a genuine drive (not ambition - there is clear evidence of that IMO) to go out and get it. Whether you think you can achieve something or can’t achieve something you are probably right. The players are there for a Top Six push. The manager is a fucking clown.

I honestly think he wants to be sacked, to put him out of his misery. The board has to act now, ffs! If I have said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times we don’t have the money to pay him off and replace him with someone better, without running into more FFP sanctions. However, it may come to that if things don’t show signs of improvement after 10 games. We do have some good players, notwithstanding that five of the best are injured, but we have a poor team that is very, very slow at the back and manager that does not seem to know what he’s doing. I don’t think changing to four at the back will back make much difference but he has to try it because three definitely isn’t working and all the other teams know it.

Divulging that would not be sensible. Its true. Take it or leave it. It's getting very tetchy in the stands, was tetchy in the cricket club afterwards. Tetchiness everywhere. If what you say is true then the family best get prepared for around 10,000 people there on a matchday or a blood bath. Not sure which yet.

If he had all the wingers and wing backs going, we would still play crap, because that's the type of manager he is, crap.

We were bad, weren't we. Even though I didn't see the actual game.
Waiting for an interview at the official website now.

If what you say is true then the family best get prepared for around 10,000 people there on a matchday or a blood bath. Not sure which yet. I agree, everyone you talk to has had enough, we have put up with 4 years of complete rubbish. I know as an owner its a different ball game, its their bread and butter, they have to balance the books, its not something to do on a Saturday like it is for fans. BUT, we are their bloody backbone, without us there is no club. We need to see a commitment, some kind of effort, I have been going since 1969 and all we want is to be a big part of Stoke City. We will feed off players and vice versa. Put 100% in and lose then we will back them, its acceptable. To not give a flying fuck, and amble through poor performances giving vibes off in interviews like MON does is just shocking. Wheres the pride? I would have given anything as a teenager to wear that shirt. One player, Liam Delap showed that today, he was so proud to be on that pitch. Its too easy to earn big money, that. alongside incompetent officials is the big problem. I'm rambling, but so pissed off, we have a good squad with Captain Mannering at the helm.

Did he actually say that?! Wow… he is virtually inviting the Board to sack him. The board have told the team/squad/management team to ignore "the outside noise" from the fans. In other words, plod on and stay in this division this season, that is the aim because next season we can spend. Just shows how much we as fans are valued. That is fact. If that is true, it is daft because we are certainties for relegation if O’Neill remains.

I question whether the ethos of the club is setup to achieve regardless of who the manager is?

1 nil down at home at half time to recently promoted Sunderland anchored by D. Batth, I was expecting us to come out second half all fired up and tear into them. Instead we were inexplicably worse

I question whether the ethos of the club is setup to achieve regardless of who the manager is? Yes it's a conundrum.. but O'Neill has been able to bring in some very good players whilst he's managed here and he gets little out of them. We have a very decent frontline but he cannot get them to score goals. He's wedded to a system that isn't working and won't change it. He is very poor at in game management and gets shown up by opposition managers regularly. Whether the club is set up to achieve or not that is all on him.

Certainly a funny hill to die on.
He's painted himself into a wingback shaped corner and will look weak or foolish if he backs down.
Wonder what Holden thinks we should play.

Why does our back three always get cut to shreds, but all other back 3s look comfortable.
