theathletic.com/live-blogs/transfer-news-live-updates/1m0wCybofcfU/Fulham defender Terence Kongolo is currently on trial at Stoke, The Athletic understands. The 28-year-old Netherlands international is not part of Marco Silva's plans this season and he did not travel with the squad for their preseason trip to Portugal earlier this month. It is thought the trial is with a view to potential loan move. Kongolo joined Fulham permanently from Huddersfield Town for an initial £4million in October 2020, following a loan stay during the second half of the 2019-20 season. He has struggled with injuries across his time at the club, and has only made four appearances in total. Fulham are also understood to be open to offers for Josh Onomah, Anthony Knockaert and Ivan Cavaleiro. www.transfermarkt.co.uk/terence-kongolo/profil/spieler/152651Another left-sided centre-half

Was reading about him the other day as someone who'd been there for years and pretty much never played.
Seemed to do well enough at Huddersfield.

That would be the guy that the tree people saw getting out of a car the other week you'd think?

Was hoping we'd get Matt Clarke, but maybe that was a bit optimistic.
He does seem to have Alfie Mawson-like levels of games missed in the last few seasons. Suppose a trial will let us have a very good look at his fitness though as there'd probably be very few takers based on that

he's been involved in some big money transfers to Monaco and then Huddersfield.
It looks like Prem clubs had been interested until recently (Everton and Southampton)

Trial with view to a loan.
Never heard that.
Shame as I was hoping for Clarke.

And a trial with view to a loan appears too specific to be random rumour. Let’s hope that given they have PL money and are obviously wanting rid, we can get a deal that works for us. Another centre back isn’t the most exciting news. However, if we are going to persist with 352, we do need to bring in the personnel to make it work.

Always assumed he went to play in his own country or similar. Didn't realise was at Fulham.

Yeah, I think the Athletic are about as good as it gets. Looks like he nearly went to Groningen on loan - then Sunderland permanently in January. Lack of games would be a huge red flag though, as with Mawson

I'm hoping he comes with free gaffa tape to hold him together...

Yeah, I've been reading a succession of quotes from Silva over the 2-year period about his stop-start-stop-start-stop-start-stooooooooooooooooooop road to fitness over his entire spell there. Not very encouraging. Maybe a questionable attitude at Hudders too? Can't see him being too enthused about being on a make-or-break loan here. But his career seems pretty much on the line, so it's down to him if he's fit.

Live scout report from my Fulham supporting mate..
'He is awesome, but made of glass'
'Always injured. Dutch international can play CB or LB'
'Plays one game a season and then gets injured'
I think you've found your home Terence old son.

I can't particularly remember anything about him when he has played against us but he appears to be a left sided defender who is comfortable on the ball so fitness aside is just what we need.

It's a key position in this 352 system and looks like a very risky signing.
A very good player when fit BUT huge injury worries. Even at Huddersfield he seems to have missed a good chunk of games.
Hope we've had a look and are keeping him on the back burner as a last resort option if Clarke doesn't come off. Can't see their being lots of competition if he's been on trial.

Who knows what goes on in their lives, especially if their career has taken a downturn. If we do get him, I’ll be excited and cheer him on (from my computer in Virginia). If we don’t, I’ll forget he ever existed.
