This is Duhaney all over again, same M.O. Slightly better pedigree to be fair. Dutch international etc . No harm in checking out his fitness etc

Comparing a player who has played understudy to Smith versus a player who has represented the Netherlands is laughable. He’s had injuries, that’s the concern. He should be a ball playing defender though who can play on the left.

He should be a ball playing defender though who can play on the left. If he can stay reasonably injury free it could be a shrewd bit of business. But obviously there are huge doubts. Let’s hope he’s over the worst of his injuries.

If we are in the market for another centre back and a left sided one, why the hell didn't we sign mawson? Probably the best option about for us with our budget at the moment.

Didn't he fail the medical? Did it consist of him running into Kongolo a few times and us choosing whichever one didn’t shatter immediately?

Yeah, I think the Athletic are about as good as it gets. Looks like he nearly went to Groningen on loan - then Sunderland permanently in January. Lack of games would be a huge red flag though, as with Mawson Seems to have had a bad run since 19/20 - suffering a broken foot, ankle problems, Achilles issues and finished off last season with knee surgery. I'm hoping he comes with free gaffa tape to hold him together... Sounds like he's always crocked....as much use as a chocolate teapot!

"We've got Terry, Terry, Terry Terry Kongolo on the wing, on the wing..."
Repeat to fade.
For those of us of a certain age 😃

To get promoted we’ll need the odd inspired punt. We took a chance on Fuller’s dodgy knees and that worked out fairly well for us in the end. If he appear to be fit and ready to play probably worth a gamble for someone that should be a top player in this league? Pity we didn't take a chance on Ba's dodgy knees..... But that's another story!!!

But that's another story!!! We couldn't get insurance and he wouldn't come on loan. We took a gamble on Cresswell who had also failed a medical elsewhere previously but not on the same level as Ba. Cresswell and Fuller both passed medicals unlike Ba We weren't the first club to have the same issue with Ba. He had a previous move fall through for the same injury/condition

Nonsense The issue with Kongolo is his injury record The issue with Duhaney is he's crap Remember an international defender being purchased at £18m who was a useless fat carthorse that we carried for years. We need to steer clear we don't have the ability to make mistakes like this with a permanent contract, even a loan is too costly.

I remember when we were trying to buy a centre half for 10 million from Celtic and so many saying was stupid money. To be fair it's only a trial at this stage

Seems a bit of a risk having your only left sided CB be so injury prone.

Was hoping we'd get Matt Clarke, but maybe that was a bit optimistic. He does seem to have Alfie Mawson-like levels of games missed in the last few seasons. Suppose a trial will let us have a very good look at his fitness though as there'd probably be very few takers based on that Matt Clarke has been loaned to Derby and WBA recently so it’s not that optimistic to think we could get him.

Yeah - but Watford and WBA are linked, aren't they? If they were in, you'd have to think we'd be third in the queue with their parachute money, even in terms of wage shares?

That's not a valid comparison either, this is a loan, he's not going to be on daft wages either The issue is his injury record, everything else makes complete sense However his injury history is pretty off putting
