Thought someone said he wasn't. No doubt will be more aware of our need for a striker and keeper asap I don’t think he’s aware what day it is never mind about footballing matters , he’s shown he’s clueless at that Are you capable of making any sensible comments?

CBA listening to him, the whole set up/club is pathetic. I know he can’t come on and say we were dogshit but to describe anything we did tonight has excellent is totally laughable. We were second best to absolutely everything. The only postives I can take from the last 2 friendlys I’ve watched is I that I wasn’t actually at the game.

If it all goes south for MON - and I hope it doesn’t - then we have to have a look at Wayne Rooney. When change comes, hopefully we are in a position to afford him. He’s already signed a contract to manage DC United. No way we can afford him anyway. The only MON will leave us when his contract runs out because we have no money to pay him off and hire a new one

MONS most likely out looking for a 45 year old striker who will score about 2/3 goals a season.

We deserve so much better than a manager who is seemingly scared of his own shadow

The club aren’t going to sack MON.
The Coates love him. He’s a yes man, so they’ll love him.
The club have the ready made ffp excuse for failure. “ we can’t afford” will constantly be pedalled.
However- if we have a shocking start ( which lets face it is fairly likely) that continues to late sept/ October then they really need to be looking at a replacement.
Also clear that our outlook was positive when McKinley was at mon side. The current malaise is clearly heavily Holden influenced. I bet u could watch his Bristol city side of 2 years ago and see the same thing.
Personally- I think Holden as much of an issue as mon if not more of.
It’s the only explanation I can find for the change from the free scoring , attacking side that we saw from mon when he came in, to the ponderous “ dictate the game” fantasy they’re pursuing now.
We haven’t the players. No point having midfielders to “ dictate the play” when the forwards save brown ( and he’s limited) are not good enough. Just thoroughly depressing.
Finally- getting rid of Davies not long after an exceptional performance at qpr was, frankly, insane. Both Bonham and Bursik are not good enough. We will carry on conceding pathetic goals like last night.
All very very depressing.
We must find a way to play that suits the limited resources we have.
But insistence on a formation when you don’t have the players to do it is insane. Especially when it involves hanging kids out to dry out of position.
He’s got til October to show us he can turn things around.
I’d be sounding out replacement by mid sept if goes badly.

If we have a poor start which is very much on the cards MON could be gone after 5 games. Once again the board will have got it dreadfully wrong.

Aside from managerial competency (especially organization) and knowledge of the game, all great coaches in any team sport have charisma and the ability to manage the egos of overpaid young players (Pep, Klopp, Fergie, All these factors are required to command the respect of the players. How many of these is MON lacking? He can’t have all four or he’d managing at a higher level.

It all seems very strange doesn’t it. Surely at this time of the season and with expectations the way they are after the last two disastrous seasons he should be at the forefront of everything to do with the club. Pushing his and the clubs vision and aims for the season etc. He’s doing completely the opposite. Wouldn’t be surprised if somethings in the offing and he’s going to quit. Perhaps he was promised things that haven’t materialised and he’s not happy. Who knows 🤷♂️ Anyway it’s a shitshow of the highest order at the moment.

Rightly or Wrongly it is never the sole decision of a club to retain or ditch their Manager. When the Fans decide enough is enough and the calls for his head are loud, obvious and regular from the stands, the Club will ALWAYS succumb to the wishes of the fans.

To answer the thread title; on borrowed time is where he's at. I think he's already lived and somehow survived off whatever goodwill he had left last season - which was diabolical. To have this level of performance (pre-season or not) and lack of anticipation for the season already is ringing alarm bells.

Does anyone think he had a sort of Hughes moment last season where he’d virtually given up and is now just resigned to when not if with all the lack of enthusiasm and giving a shit that entails?

I think he realised last season that he can't take the club any further and was resigned to being sacked. It would probably have been a relief to be relieved of his duties, get his contract paid up, and move on. Unbelievably to MON, yet unsurprisingly for the fans, the Board decided to stick with him, yet we are seeing nothing except a continuation of our malaise with no sign of things changing or improving. The team/squad is badly lacking in numbers and quality, our playing style is what exactly, and our "form" is abysmal.
Would the Board sack him if we are battling relegation, or gamble on staying up and just not renew his contract ? If we are in trouble I think if the fans turn en masse it could well be a crucial factor in determining if he stays or goes.

The first sentence of your last paragraph sums up this club as we shouldn’t even be thinking of relegation at this point. The whole purpose of getting rid of the deadwood was so that we could start with a clean slate and build toward pushing for the top six.

Great question. Where is MON? Rewind a year ago to preseason and there was genuine optimism that we could have a real crack at the playoffs, Michael himself saying how we wanted to be at the top end and challenging. Genuine excitement amongst the support and an heir of optimism be it cautious, fingers crossed, rabbit foot in hand but for the first time since relegation a bit of something to perhaps get excited about. After a superb start we fell away and dramatically so. The January window gave some cause for optimism but without Harry Souttar & Nick Powell and a not yet fit Tyrese Campbell it wasn't to be. Injuries, refereeing decisions and of course the manager himself are all in the mix for debate. Fast forward to the here & now, painful as it is and what have we got and what can we expect? Well this is Stoke City we're talking about so expect the unexpected, anything could happen as I'm sure we all recognise. I am concerned..... Hopefully, the club have a couple of ace cards up their sleeve and three or four real quality signings are going to be announced....Fingers well & truly crossed..... However, I really am concerned. Something is wrong. The silence from the manager, the delegating interviews to his assistants, the deafening silence from the top brass. There is no clear vision or certainly not one they are sharing with us the fans. There is no energy, no direction, no vibe and therefore no connection or togetherness. In fact right now I would say that the relationship between the manager & fans and the club and the fans is almost at an all time low. It's non existent. And that does not bode well for the coming season. There is a big fat heap of nothingness and the lack of ambition, energy and leadership from the Chairman filters down to the management and the lack of energy, dynamism & leadership from the manager is reflected in his team which evidently for some time has lacked structure, energy, direction, (apart from backwards) and any imagination. We are looking like a tin pot, small time club, content with our Championship status (that could be threatened this season) and I for one do not think that's good enough for Stoke City F.C. It's totally unacceptable. There needs to be a real effort from the Chairman & Manager to reconnect with the support and nurture the most important ingredient for success TOGETHERNESS.
