I can't believe someone eats Chicken Kiev. I absolutely detest garlic. NZ McDs did a McGarlic burger for a while. A burger soaked in the diarrhoea of Satan that is garlic I stood outside waiting for my order once as the place reeked of the stuff....is hideous.
Chicken Kievs are stupidly dangerous as every time the red hot butter inside burns your lips, exactly the same as those stupid McDonald’s things with red hot apple sauce inside that should have come with a public health warning
I'm lost here mate, if the large fish was £9.50, how did the medium fish and and two large chips come to £26.50?
If the medium fish was (say) £7.50, that would make the bags of chips £9.50 each!
He probably went Wetley Rocks instead of a proper school like Saltway
Fucking Saltway! Primary School football nemesis! We went a full season with a 100% record then visited Saltway on a cold, wet and windy Tuesday evening in 1989. Lost 3-1. Although I scored from the half way line straight from the kick off to make it one each at the start of the second half. One for the grandkids😀

Chicken Kievs are the bollocks with baked beans, but as you alluded to probably best to leave them for 10 minutes before getting stuck in!
£7.95 is the highest I've heard of at the Leeds direct arena for a pint of Moretti
It was £7.25 at the Opera House in Manc for a 500ml bottle of either Budvar or Magners which does work out at over 8 quid a pint. I didn't drink either of them.
Yeah £8 at The Oval. I was buzzing with a pint of Stella for £4.50 the other week, at a wedding!
Yep. Getting that way where anything beginning with a 4 is favourable. Can imagine they'll stick another quid or two onto the beer at Old Trafford (cricket) next year
That said. I can still get a decent pint for £2.45 at a non-Spoons down the road so not everywhere is taking the piss.

Still plenty of pubs not going mental. Hartshill I’d say is 3.20-4.00 a pint on average. I suppose I see it as cheap still having a job that takes me around europe. We’re still pretty lucky with beer prices here so far

They certainly are. There’s two pubs close to me that sell Madri, one pub buys it for £1.80 a pint from their supplier and sells it for £5.
A mate runs a working men’s club in Stoke and he stands firm with the breweries and hates dealing with them.

Mad isn't it?
The Woodman in Hanley charges £3.60 for a pint of Madri, in Nantwich you can't find it anywhere for under £5.25.

McDs apple pies are mad old things. Quite nice though , I actually like the pastry.
If you eat garlic butter you deserve to be burned . I was in a kebab shop not long back and someone asked for garlic mayo....two of my least fave food items together .

£3.60 I’d describe as fair, £5.25 is just ridiculous. Nantwich is shite as well. They charge it because of some dillision of grandeur, nowt to do with wholesale prices

Nantwich is bollocks, one of the worst towns for drinking. I find everything so sterile there.

They charge it because they know their market and know what their customer base will and won't pay for it (exactly the same as the Woodman).
But yep, their profit margin is likely to be larger, although I suspect their rents and rates will be considerably higher.
No Political point to make, but just watched the Panorama programme on UK Inflated food prices and the lengths some people have to go to in order to feed themselves and/or their families.
To be honest with you I felt both relieved and appalled in equal measure and somewhat grateful that me or mine do not have to make those choices
Surely the UK population in general deserve better as the 5th/6th biggest economy in the World? with a more equitable wealth distribution, or at least a better planned Economy and no I'm not advocating Communistic
In many ways its self defeating as poor diet leads to poor health outcomes which lead to more State reliance and the cycle just continues. People correctly have raised concerns on another thread about Children's Education being interrupted by Covid but how can Children possibly recover academically when their nutritional needs are not being met.
As I said at the outset I'm not making a Political point as I believe Labour might only be marginally more benevolent but benevolence is not what's required but a radical rethink of how we treat our population Many argue that increased Immigration has a positive effect on our economy why not first give our own population the best possible opportunity to contribute first

Couldn’t agree more.
Often School is the main source for some kids only nutritional meal of the day so it’s key they get the menu right.
A lot of schools seem to be outsourcing to independent companies now and they try to give the menu healthier options than when I was at school and even offer breakfasts now. Kids still however seem to direct towards the fried fast food option so often caterers will have to adhere to supply and demand and have a menu that directs towards what the kids want, they will however try to be more subtle with food like burritos featuring heavily. I’m not sure if there’s any input on nutrition in lessons but there certainly needs to be more.
On the plus side free dinners are still going strong.
I guess the problems occur for those out of school (for which there are 1000s) who will generate to McDonalds or the fridge at home.
It’s a vicious circle but your right re eating healthy. The thing now is unlike the old days where it was chips with everything there’s never been a better time to put on a healthy menu because as a society we can’t use ignorance as an excuse like in the 70s and 80s.
London can still be reasonable if you know where you’re going!
Yep prices vary wildly all over the city, from £8ish in town, to £4.25 for Kronnenburg in places like Norwood.
The main issue is energy costs. If a pub/restaurant/cafe are on a contract that costing them last years prices then they will be high and dry until the contract runs out. As an example our local pub landlord is sill on a contract until early next year when his annual energy cost will go from around £19000 to an eye-watering £80k+. He has already started to make contingency plans but expects his prices to have to increase substantially to survive. Also a friend runs a small holiday let business in South Devon. Luckily he signed a 5 year year energy contract which still has nearly 4 years to run. But his concern is if the energy supplier goes bust in the new year when prices increase again then he will be on a pay as you go contract with one of the big suppliers. He has already taken bookings for next spring and summer but if his energy costs spiral he will probably have to close.
I’ve started drinking Guinness more now because in some places it’s as much as a quid cheaper than a strong lager/beer.
Found a pint of Guinness for £4.50 near Kings Cross last week!
It was in the London equivalent of the Pig Pen tho
I was in Newcastle at the weekend and guys from Kent, London, Oxford and Bristol in the group were amazed how cheap all the alcohol was, even had pussers gunpowder rum for £4 in one bar
