who actually cares at local level?
its all knobheads wanting too have there name in lights these days
after years of working for a town council i saw a nasty swing from the old guard who may have been elected under a banner of labour/tory/lib dem etc but they all worked in a bi partisan way for the good of the town and saw it as civic duty to what we have now which is attention seeking back stabbing tossers who want newspaper headlines in the local rag, party lines are firmly drawn now and nothing gets done or achieved
its a shambles and at a local level party allegiance shouldn't be a thing

I don’t think many people care tbh, they’re all full of shut.. Dont see what difference it makes who gets in, they just lie once they get in anyway

Ours will be an interesting little council from both an SNP and Tory perspective. SNP finished 1st last year, then 2x Independents and then Tories missed out on the final available slot by 8 votes and only 200 votes split the 4 of them.
Alba have a pretty well known candidate too who runs the food charity so they could do pretty well - Labour were miles behind last time so will be interesting to see if anything swung back their way.
I've had leaflets from the 2 independents and Alba but nobody else - wouldn't be surprised if both the SNP and Conservatives lost votes but SNP cling on in third.

Had two leaflets, Plaid (they can take a hike) and the Cons guy. Came round as well, not a whisper from anyone else so they can get stuffed into the bargain. Talked about local issues and he's well on the case, shame the others couldn't be arsed.

No leaflets and no candidates here in Bucknall. Labour took us for granted for years now the Conservatives do.

I've had a visit fom the Libs and the Tories. Plus leaflets from the above, Labour, and the Greens.
The Lib candidate seemed ok. It's a pity they chose to form a coalition with Cameron in 2010 thus losing my vote forever, else I might have voted for him.
I guess it will be the Greens again for me. Although I probably disagree with quite a few of their policies, I support their highlighting of environmental and climate issues. Theirs is a voice which should be heard IMO.
Our area of Somerset will be very close between the Tories and the Libs but judging by the number of banners in people's gardens, I think the Libs will probably win here.

Make your predictions here see whose the closest 😁 Ull start 836 Can't see it being that many, lots of the English elections are in places where there just aren't that many gains to be had for a start. I'll go 337 and hope to be pleasantly surprised. Still don't think we're anywhere close to being far enough away from Brexit for some voters to abandon Johnson's Tories that completely, although they're doing a grand job of making that easier with every passing day.

I wonder if the Tory losses tomorrow will exceed those Blair’s Labour lost in May 2000.
Labour lost 574 that night, the Tories gained 594.

I watched that mad scientist looking psephologist fella, Curtice on the BBC at lunchtime. He said that predictions of Tories losing 800 were pie in the sky. I think they're only defending 1400 in total in England or something like that. The real view will be on the share of the vote and that being mapped into areas that aren't voting. Thursday nights reaction will be a phoney war with the Johnson apologists and the New Labour right both claiming some sort of victory. The ones who will need to be convinced one way or another are the Tory backbenchers.

There's always the likelihood that Tory Central has been briefing for big losses so that worst case scenario is we told you so, while anything better than awful will be claimed as a moral victory/disaster for Labour.

i had the local Tory councillor knock on our door in the weekend. I sent him on his way after lying that he’d have my vote. I thought if it’s good enough for your party it’s good enough for me

It might even be bullshit because many councillors also work for local MPs and parliamentary parties.

Be interesting to see how well the greens do at the expense of lab and former lib areas (esp. southwest)
I'm not sure which seats are even up.
Residents association for me and maybe one tory councillor who puts a shift in.
