It must be a recent development because I've flown through on the last few times I've been abroad albeit it was December I last visited.

It's chaos, i flew twice out of there last year and it was fine but this year they have massively underestimated how quickly travel has come back and failed to recruit early enough. I'm flying from there in August twice, not looking forward to it at all tbh.

It’s wank, always hated Manchester airport, much prefer East Midlands or Birmingham. Or Liverpool for that matter

We're supposed to be flying to Croatia in May from Manchester terminal 1. Having seen the numerous reports over the past week or so I'm really not looking forward to the trip.
The airport advice is to check with the airline how soon before the flight we need to arrive at the airport to check-in etc.
I've checked the airline website and it just say's to "allow sufficient time" to clear check-in etc.
It's absolutely disgraceful and utter chaos, and the onus has cleverly been shifted onto the passenger to guess how much time you need to allow. Basically they're saying if you miss your flight, it's your own fault, even in these chaotic circumstances.

Totally forgot about the ticket and got an e mail offering me another flight for free due to maybe missing the flight due to the congestion. Truth is I forgot to cancel or change the ticket as booked it weeks ago and forgot was today until got the email. That was Emirates, re booked for a few months away . Fair play to them.

Flown from there a couple of times this year, despite my info saying Terminal 3, it’s still closed for some reason so all those end up in Terminal one. I’ve got there 3 hours before flying but you still end up in a queue of a thousand people with one person checking you in until it becomes apparent that people are going to miss flights, at which point absolute panic breaks loose. Never seen so many people miss flights through no fault of there own. It’s a disgrace!

I've seen a couple of reports that it had taken over an hour after landing for the chocks to be put on the tyres to stop the plane from moving. One report also said passengers had been on a plane for 90 minutes after landing waiting for someone to bring the steps, and another article said there had just been one person on passport control on arrival, and that none of the automatic passport readers were working.
Wasn't Manchester repeatedly banging on that they were "ready and waiting" for air travel to open up. I heard on the radio that they had recruited 400 new staff recently - what they didn't say, and a member of the airport staff "anonymously" did say, was that approx 150 of those new members of staff had packed the job in within a few days and hadn't turned up again. It's supposedly going to take at least 3 to 4 months for this to be resolved.
Utterly shambolic.

Flying into MAN in 4 weeks. Seriously considering not bringing golfs clubs or checking a bag. It was seriously dated before Covid and the car hire experience is dire. Understand most UK residents don't have to hire a car at MAN but for tourists it can be your first experience and it's about as bad as it gets. Wait outside in the cold for a small bus that comes already full of passengers - 1 tiny door to get in/out of - and the driver is not going to help sitting in a perspex box. If your're fortunate to get on the buss wait while it U turns and takes you to the "village" which is quiet appropriate as the car hire place is kind of like Trumpton. Hard to believe this was purpose built - tiny pavement bags and people everywhere then drag all your bags 100 yards down the road to Hertz. Can't wait.

The above were just as crap when we were part of the old, white, wealthy unelected, bureaucratic, health and safety obsessed, illiberal club of Brussels 😊 Old Ursula Von Der Liar is hardly the epitome of efficiency. Although maybe in the bedroom 😍

All easyjet cancelled over 200 flights at the weekend as well.
We are off to France later this month (not my choice) but going by Eurostar, hopefully less stressful.

We're (supposedly) flying with Easyjet from Manchester T1 next month. I've just emailed the travel company to see what their policy is if we end up missing our flights due to airport chaos, or if Easyjet cancel their flights. I'm expecting the usual fob off.

I wouldn’t in all honesty as whilst we were sitting on the plane I was watching them put the cases on from my window and the idiot staff kept looking at what I presume was a surf board which was undoubtedly holding the flight up so they simply left it off.

Took us 3 hours to get through security 3 weeks ago and that was at 7:30am Sunday morning …..it was carnage with people panicking about flights
On the return at 6am Thursday morning we only queued 15 mins to get through passport control ( it hadn’t built up due to the time ) but had to wait one hour to reclaim our luggage
You’ve been warned folks

Someone I know flew out to Spain early this morning, she said queues were about 2 hours to get through security.
Is Manchester the only council owned Airport in the country ?

Oddly coming back from America a few weeks back not a single person checking passports or at passport control .

Think I may cancel the lounge…no fees for cancelling…and re book it nearer July if it’s all sorted.

I’m currently in Majorca. Flew out on Saturday, EasyJet. Utter chaos. Queued for 2 hours to drop my bag off. Then luckily had fast track customs tickets - best £5 I’ve ever spent. Saved me a further 2 hours queuing. Then had a 2.5hr delay. People were running all over the place, panicking. I arrived 4 hours early and if I hadn’t had fast track passes and my flight hadn’t been delayed, I would have missed my flight. We are going home on Saturday and we are chucking our cases and just going back with hand luggage due to the utter baggage handling nightmare that awaits. It’s total dogshit.
