Ronald Koeman and lots of investment was supposed to be the new Everton reborn & ready to compete era. That went disasterously wrong very quickly as has every appointment they've made since. As others have alluded to, what's happened there is similar to what happened with us when we fell away but on a far bigger scale due to Evertons football standing. Lampard has never been tried and tested in a relegation scrap, as a player or manager and it does take a certain character to be able to do this, Lampard was never appointed on his managerial experience and was always going to be a big name appointment with a big gamble attached to it. We all know & have seen when managers down tools & don't want to dig deep in the trenches what the results will be. Think even Big Sam would struggle to get a tune out of the lacklustre squad that's currently there. The premier league version of us. Spent absolute fortunes on rubbish and gave that rubbish big wages and long contracts in the process so they are left with a bloated squad of players no-one, including Everton want. 30m on Iwobi 50m on Richarlson 48m on Sigurdsson 25m on Pickford 30m on Allan 27m on Mina 20m on Godfrey Absolutely nuts and there are probably more. Somehow they need to survive and attempt to rebuild. I hope they do. My son is part of the Everton academy. It would be disastrous if they got relegated. They deserve it though

Chucked money at things for years now No semblance of a plan Attitude appears to be that the club has a divine right to Premier League football

Just been listening to an article on Talksport & they've been discussing the perilous plight of Everton & it sounds like they're up absolute shit creek..
Hadn't realised they are on the verge of being the first Premier League club to fall foul of the Premier Leagues FFP ruling which incorporates a fine & or points deduction.
If they do get relegated apparently none of their high earners have got relegation clauses in their contracts as in pay deduction %'s so in effect they'll still be paying all their players Premier League wages in the Champo & none will have relegation release clauses inbuilt.
Harry Redknapp was on saying Frank's really got his work cut out to keep them up as the squad he's got there isn't good enough and there's nothing he can do as we're past the transfer deadline to change anything. They discussed that Frank's only victories have come against an out of form at the time Brentford & Leeds & of course the Boreham Wood match they made hard work of also.
Add to that they've just lost a massive amount of sponsorship as they've had to sever links with their Russian sponsors. Sure they said that's equivalent to £300mil over next 20yrs!
They discussed that Champions League winners Anchelotti and Benitez have managed Everton & failed to get a tune out of them so what realistic chance has Frank got there?
& mentioning their recent transfer deals include Andros Townsend, Rondon, Begovic & Dele Alli all being free transfers aswell as modest £1.8mil for Demari Gray, aside from spending some cash on a couple of fullbacks who arent getting great deal of game time they have been quietly been assembling a squad of ways & strays!
All this taken into consideration, Everton are looking up against it whether they start in the Prem or Champo next season.
Add to that their boyhood hero Wayne Rooney recently turned them down citing wasn't the right time, no it sure doesn't look to be now their current predicaments are being outed in the media! Staying to face the music at Derby as opposed to Everton, things must be bad at the blue half of Merseyside!

Definitely makes you wonder how that's going to continue to be funded doesn't it? Alot of teams who move stadiums or upgrade stands always seem to falter abit don't they, our Corner renovation being a prime eg. Wolves had a poor period when they upgraded their North Stand. Arsenal have never really recaptured their Highbury glory at the Emirates. Spurs still hit and miss at their new stadium. Bet the Everton powers that be are watching that new stadium being built through open fingered hands, Doh!

Sounds like another situation where Lampard takes all the credit if they stay up and gets none of the blame if they go down. I actually think his reputation as a potential top flight coach will be seriously damaged if Everton do go down. For a club with more top flight seasons than anyone else and only 2 relegations in more than 130 years it would be a major blot on his CV.

The fees for Richarlison astound me.
And the fact he's a starter for Brazil.
He's perfectly ok isn't he but nothing more? Even when I've watched him for Brazil, he's fine but starting for Brazil?

I agree it probably should but there's a media love-in with him so he'll be teflon like his uncle. Being fair to him there are mitigations and he's inherited a bit of a shitshow, but no way on earth is that squad one of the worst three in the league and a good manager survives fairly comfortably IMO.

To be honest Brazil are not WC contenders for me these days. A decent enough side but they lack in great players like the old days. Watching the South American qualifiers, they',d do well to make the last 4 in Qatar

I remember during the summer transfer window two summers ago reading on SSN scrolling ticker tape that Barça had tabled an £80M plus bid for Richarlison. I nearly spat out my beer, and it turned out to be bollocks anyway. With the right players around him, he could be half decent but right now he is an expensive luxury. As for DCL, quite why he gets so much hype is beyond me. I think he’s utterly shit and Everton should have cashed in last summer.

He's already close to 50 goals for them.

Though questions remain re funding ,they were due to receive 30m loan from the Liverpool city region towards costs .. but on Monday they announced they didn’t need that as they’d made arrangements to loan that element privately
