If Maja is coming in for c£3.5m then we must be losing someone where we can get that kind of money or more. It's Campbell that must be going. It wouldn’t be til the summer though presumably when we’ve got loads of players leaving.

Whatever forward we have, we need to make sure we are getting the ball to them, stop this bloody everything sideways and backwards rubbish. Our system and prolific goal scorer don’t go hand in hand

True, if it's a compulsory thing its been done for FFP purposes so we wouldn't need to have raised the funds till the next FFP reporting period, which are in March right?

No idea mate, ask someone clever! I’d be surprised if we allowed ourselves to be tied into a mandatory purchase agreement though.

I wished we ran the club in an ideal world.
Give our own players Surridge game time and not waste it again on bringing a player coming back from long term injury from another club. Matando and Clarke gambles again we lost with last season.
Next weeks cup game is ideal for bringing Stoke recovering injury players and under used players up to speed.
Maja i am sure played against our U21s in the check a trade and he was not interested.

Maybe because they can see that he's a young lad that has ALOT of potential and is only just coming back from a major injury. I can't believe how quickly he is being written off It’s pathetic isn’t it His performances could be linked to something going on in the background. Who knows. It could just be a young lad trying to get back to his best after his first major injury, which was always going to take time.

www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Transferts-bordeaux-discute-pour-phil-jones-manchester-united/1313847It was a possibility considered depending on the sales made before the end of the transfer window. It has gained momentum in recent hours after the exit doors were found for Otavio (on loan to Atlético Mineiro) and Josh Maja (on track to join Stoke City in the form of a loan with an option to buy). After completing the recruitment of Marcelo, the Girondins went in search of another reinforcement in central defense. Their interest fell on Manchester United player Phil Jones, who is no longer in the Red Devils' plans. The 29-year-old England international has only appeared once this season in the Premier League.

www.sudouest.fr/sport/mercato-aux-girondins-de-bordeaux-guilavogui-arrive-maja-s-en-va-phil-jones-cible-8133887.phpIn the other direction, Bordeaux is about to finalize the departure of Josh Maja to Stoke City, tenth in the Championship (English D2), as part of a loan with a compulsory purchase option which could reach 3.5 million euros if the club were promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Good news for the Girondins payroll, which is reduced by a player paid 130,000 euros gross per month, after the departure of Otavio whose salary (150,000 euros gross) will be paid by Atlético Mineiro. A solution must also be found for Mehdi Zerkane, for whom Lausanne has expressed its interest. Finally, defender Malcom Bokele, recently extended until 2024, will be loaned to Villefranche (4th in National) as indicated by L'Equipe.

Curious to know if there is any buy option for him on the deal for staying put in the league, if he'd even be interested

Only on £27k per week at the moment, I’m sure we can double that and put him on a 4-year contract! 🙄

And there's a whole world of difference between option and compulsory come the end of the season. Maybe we did need Scholes after all - just to know the difference * apols in advance should i have that base over apex.

If we can afford to buy him if he's a success fair enough, good business, even.
That's how all our loan signings should be seeing as we can't spot a player for toffee

I’m not sure I agree with bringing in another expensive striker. However, if he is young and will continue to improve, then it fits with our transfer policy.

Apparently quite a lot of players are taking wage drops to play on loan at other clubs so as to get their career going again.

He just needs to work on his decision making on when to release the ball and then hes got it all. I suspect he will be a regular for Villa next season (in our dreams a season long to us, but more likely if not starting for villa then a prem loan for him.) I already see a relationship developing between Powell and PB.

We also had an option to sign Matondo for a fee we were never going to pay in this league.
