Foxy is a cast iron legend but I’m not sure we can objectively say he was at the same level as a goalie. Wasn’t Shilton a bit crap for us? Sorro’s right up there for sure He played the majority of games in one of our best ever finishes didn’t he? I’m too young for it, but I do wonder how “crap” he was versus how less good he was versus that expected of a world record fee in a time where we soon had to complete an exodus of talent to pay for the ground. Before my time as well, just going off the bad rep he tends to have on here... so thinking about it, I should probably conclude he was brilliant

Neville Southall but it was the 1990's? Thomas Sorensen wasn't too shabby. Recently watched the review dvd for 1st PL season and Tommy probably saved us from relegation. He was awesome. Yes he did.

He had his own 'bull worker' at the time as well which counted for something.

For around 6 months money that equates to around 10k a week if thats what the fee is for? Sound about right for Davies? Sounds about right and frees up wages to make another signing. I’d love to see a left sided center back, but they are very hard to come by, especially one that is within our budget.

It's not a loan is it it's a transfer so the £250,000 must be for his services and we will also lose his wages. So who can we loan for £250,000 who will be on low enough wages to replace Davies on the wages list?

Good business.
Never what we needed - especially going forward.
Whether Bursic is ultimately, is ano matter but not one we need to address this window.
Not a scooby who we could use the cash on if anybody but have been pleasantly surprised at who has come in so far.

Dream would be a really good replacement goalie. Someone Sorroesque. But we need a non-Chester CB more imho.

Still no confirmation? Seems odd? I wonder if there is a problem. Have you tried getting any kind of elective treatment/tests on the NHS recently?

As reported on the Sentinel website it seems to be presented as a complete and done deal, with an explanation of why the move happened.
Edit: "Confirmed" at 1.25pm.

Someone at work has just seen him getting petrol in Dodworth, I shit you not....... I think I saw him once at Wheelock Hall Farm but I wasn't convinced. I'm always impressed that people have a vast array of knowledge of what random footballer look like when I struggle with the ones I watch every other week.

Surprised he's signed that contract. He won't get much playing time to put himself in the shop window again in 18 months time.

Good luck to him. A quick look at his stats and 20 clean sheets in 41 appearances was very good going (doesn't that rank him as our best goalkeeper in terms of a games to clean sheet ratio, just ahead of Jimmy Lee? - I think the Sentinel ran an article on it at some point last year)
More importantly, it makes plenty of sense financially and opens the door for Bursik to develop as number one.

Regardless of what we feel about MON’s ability to determine a game or whether he will take this club to the next level, it’s seemingly undeniable that he has overseen stability in league position while simultaneously putting a major slash into the wage bill.
Given that Davies was going to be on a big wage, it’s reasonable that he’s now gone. Have to hope that Bursik shows some quality soon.
