Breaking news: "Phil Jagielka twists his knee. Estimated time to a return to the grass - 6 months" Clearly not spent a lot of time in Tony's company if you're making comments like that, he'd have you over his knee in no time.

Said he wasn't surprised... Poor retort, thinking I'd fall for that garbage. I blocked him a while ago but I'll give him a bell to see if he can sort you out. I just hope he doesn't get the wrong impression by me reaching out to him out of the blue.

With 2 centre backs coming in last week. Someone was on their way. Although Chester was probably the one to move on I bet Batth will save us more in wages! Good luck to the guy I say. Showed grit and determination when we were facing League 1 in the face, that others were well short of.

Put in some sterling performances in our survival season and scored some important goals towards the run in. People have such short memories. It wasn't as though Shawcross was all that comfortable on the ball either. He used to lump it all the time but he's a so called legend! Sorry maybe Iām misunderstanding your last sentence, are you suggesting Shawcrossā legendary status is in question? I do sort of agree with the Shawcross/Bath analogy though except Shawcross was a much higher level version of the old school British CB. Peak Shawcross was a higher level player than the highest levels we attained in the premiership. Thatās why heās a legend, because his quality was instrumental in that great period for the club.

Be a big loss excellent in the dressing room and a proper defender he added some steel to the team starting at Blackpool and will be a miss in the squad thereās a reason heās gone and not others as he has real value to offer

Shawcross was obviously a better all round player than Batth but they both had similar strengths and weaknesses in my opinion.

Really wish Danny well. He is and was a true professional for Stoke and Sunderland have improved with him in the squad.
I'm concerned about our depth on Defense until the seasons end without Baath. One or two injuries and we are in trouble. Suppose the up side is we would bring in one or two of the young Defenders which fits in with the longer term build with youth strategy.

We bought him for Ā£3.11 on a 3.5 years contract, so his amortised value should be around Ā£444k. That should be enough to cover someone else's wages on roughly Ā£25k for 18 months. We donāt save anything on the amortised value. If it wasnāt written off in last seasonās great write off it will be in the accounts for this season. It only gets reduced if we receive a fee. Presumably we save some or all of his wages for 6 months Yes I agree, that would be my take on the accounting position.

Good luck to him at his new club. Hopefully we have the strength in depth we need until the end of the season, but no real surprise as no doubt his wages were a big part of the decision.

Kind of overlooking heās going a League One club? That will also be playing a big part too. Heās not good enough for this division and for what we need. Good luck to him though. He seems a nice chap and will do well at a lower level. But not to scratch in this.
