I really like Danny and is sad to see him go. Very underrated by a lot of people on this board, but he is a very good defender with limitations on the ball.

Shocking business. Swapping, arguably, our most effective defender for a 40-year-old. Jags won't be able to play 2 games a week and if he gets injured - we are in trouble defensively without Batth What is it about this club and defenders, we just don't put any importance on them, have we not learned anything from our last few years in the prem. He played 20 of Derby's 25 games and wasn't actually available for the first 2 so why not?

I’d certainly have him in defence ahead of some of the dross we’ve had in there, but hopefully the move works for him and we have enough options to cover his exit.

Best of luck Danny. Echo what many have already said, solid enough defender but can’t pass a ball out of defence which is clearly what O’Neil is looking for, still, will go to Sunderland with my best wishes

Will he have any value for FFP purposes bearing in mind his contracts up in the summer? I would have thought his amortised value would be £0 and so £0 loss if we let him go on a free. Either way his wages off the bank has got to be a help. Even if it’s not the £27k being reported. We bought him for £3.11 on a 3.5 years contract, so his amortised value should be around £444k. That should be enough to cover someone else's wages on roughly £25k for 18 months. We don’t save anything on the amortised value. If it wasn’t written off in last season’s great write off it will be in the accounts for this season. It only gets reduced if we receive a fee. Presumably we save some or all of his wages for 6 months

No-one wanted Chester.
We had a taker for Batth.
We can't get a fee for a £2.5m signing because we're in shit state but its high wages off the wage bill.
Simple.

Would've made more sense to get rid of Jester but presumably no one wanted him.
Thanks for your service Danny, scored some crucial goals for us too.

I think the reason we can’t get a fee is more to do with Covid depleting all clubs’ funds, him being 31, seemingly deemed surplus to requirements, not pulling up any trees despite being in reasonable form and finally, only having 6 months left on a big contract. If anything, we’ve likely paid him a small lump sum to offset the wage loss he will incur during that period.

Probably his biggest critic- our football was quite unwatchable when he played- but good luck to him, it wasn’t for the lack of effort
