They love our cast offs the Owls. He'll do alright at that level. And a big(ish) wage off our bill.

Had a feeling it would be Wednesday.
Have a feeling we might be trying to do a deal with Bannan too, especially since the rumour mill is turning on Thompson out too...

Can't they take Chester instead? As well. I did think that as I was writing my post. Only thing that stopped me was that Batth has actually played well (in my opinion) since Souttar has been out, whereas Chester is utter dogshit.

That would be such a fucking huge relief and best for all concerned.
Right up there as one of the worst defenders I've ever seen, alongside Nicky Mohan and Steven tweed

Equally as disastrous a signing as Sam vokes. An absolutely shite player.

He’s not a world beater by any stretch but he’s far superior to those you’ve listed. I wish him all the best, he’s been a committed, steady performer for us.

No he's not, not superior at all to those. He also represents a really dark time for me in our history this last few years of laughably inept defending, stupid mistakes. Utterly laughable that's a 3.5 million signing for a team with promotion aspirations

An absolutely shite player. In a team trying to play football yes, but he was instrumental in us staying up the other year. It wasn't all down to him that we were in that mess. Very harsh that mate - sure, should have got more for our money but he didn't set the fee for himself did he?
A good character and leader. Deserves a good move and Wednesday one of the best he could do in a lower league. Going to work for a good man in Moore too.

An absolutely shite player. Bloody hell, that's a bit harsh! 😂 He's a decent defender in terms of heading the ball away, being solid in the tackle, last-ditch challenges etc. He's just a bit rubbish if you ask him to do anything other than hoof the ball aimlessly up the pitch. League One's his level- bottom end of the Championship maybe in the right team. Not a good signing by any means, but nowhere near some of the disasters we've had recently.

£3.5m is still a ridiculous fee for him though, given his limitations. As Trousers says, he's a meat and two veg bottom half of the Championship, top-end League one stopper of the old school
Not a disaster in the Vokes class (whose legs we should have deduced were gone) in the same window or any of the real Prem whoppers like Imbers or Saido.
But, still, it's only whan you see us scrambling around down the back of the settee in our FFP-ravaged state that you can see it for what it was.

Limited is a buzzword but that’s the word I’d use. What he lacks in pace and technical ability he makes up for in effort and attitude. To compare him to some of the losers we’ve had in the past is pretty disrespectful. I hope he has a good rest of his career.

This is the thing, I'm assessing him in context and he represents what has been wrong with this club since relegation. Yes he's a league one player and he was when we signed him. We had a policy of going to the other extreme, away from fancy foreign players who although can play football....well the ones we signed weren't reliable. We decided despite our huge budget to pay over the odds for rubbish championship hoofers. We decided that to get promoted it wouldn't work to think like a premier league club that's too good for this league, we should think like a so called 'battle hardened championship club' The signing was an absolute joke, and I remember wolves fans comments at the time. He's rubbish. In England if you're really tall, have a determined expression on your face and head the ball a lot then you can make 20k a week so I'm sure he won't give a fuck about what I say But he's never been good enough for this club and I'll be glad when he's gone.

Looking at it through purely co-incidental context here, as he wasn't brought in to do that job, but his performances that helped keep us up when MON walked in through the door from that ridiculously tough position - 3.5M could be viewed as a steal, as daft as that sounds. Had we gone down that year we would have been with the dead men for years IMO.
Swings and roundabouts, as no doubt his wage will be weighing us down a bit now.
A victim of the circumstances.

free drop I would keep Batth over Chester. But if teams only want Baath then that solves that puzzle. MON has to reduce the center half numbers (or is he properly graduating into full on VT - joking !)
Thought Danny has been a good (if technically limited) pro for us and wish him the best if he leaves. He will do well at Weds.

Fair points - and I am loath to criticise someone like him who is a great pro who always did their best But, still, £10m on him and Vokes is eye-watering stuff and arguably as bad a window as any we had in the Prem - if not quite as disastrous as the summer of Rowett!
