Hope he goes and does well there. Solid professional who just gets the job done. Has had a much better career than most professional footballers despite being crap (in others’ opinion).

Not sure Danny is what they need though talking to a mackem mate of mine. They like us look to build out from the back, the exact reason we're getting rid!
Good luck to him and them though, he's been a decent enough servant for us and he didn't command his fee himself.

He may not be the classiest defender we've had but he's never given less than his best and as as an old fashioned center half, I've seen lots worse. Good luck to the lad wherever he goes.
OS.

Best of luck to Danny always committed for us. He is who he is and is one of the few players who can of held his he high and look himself in the mirror knowing he gave his best over the past couple of years and popped up with some important goals for us.

Will the club get a transfer fee?

He'd be bonkers to turn that down - albeit it won't be on SCFC wonga.
Where does he hale from originally? Can't recall any twang whenever I've (very rarely) heard him speak.
Pure footballing reasons aside, got to think that geography / family proximity will have some influence too.

He’s actually played for Wednesday before, not sure if that would sway him if it’s a straight choice?

Do we think Danny Batth leaving would help cover any wages of the 3 players we brought in, or if he leaves would that give us wiggle room for yet more incoming?

Will the club get a transfer fee? probably enough to clear the remaining FFP asset value

No issue at all with Danny & as per a few others on the board would wish him well wherever he goes

Was with my Sunderland mate on Sunday and he was saying exactly the same about playing out from the back. Low and behold two days later…. I still think Danny will do well there. We might well be lining up against him next year if he earns himself a deal

Good move for Danny and hopefully chips away at the FFP albatross for us.

I would have thought his amortised value would be £0 and so £0 loss if we let him go on a free. Either way his wages off the bank has got to be a help. Even if it’s not the £27k being reported.

We might well be lining up against him next year if he earns himself a deal I’d say it’s a lot easier to play out from the back as a player less well-equipped to do so as you move down the levels. Any similarly sized mistakes are less likely to lead to goals. Souttar does well for us here, but he’s no Abdoulaye and I’d imagine he’d get caught out a fair bit in the Premier League. Similarly just because Batth isn’t good at it in this division, it doesn’t mean he’ll be bad at it in lower leagues.

Best of luck to him, gave his all for the badge and scored some crucial goals in the lockdown period when we needed all we could get. 100+ games for our club can’t be understated at all and Sunderland are getting a good player for that level.
I know most is tongue in cheek, but people genuinely upset about Chester staying and Danny leaving clearly don’t get the situation we’re in. We need fees for players and no chance you’re getting someone to buy Chester. This move makes sense for all parties.

We bought him for £3.11 on a 3.5 years contract, so his amortised value should be around £444k. That should be enough to cover someone else's wages on roughly £25k for 18 months.

The defensive errors we have been making have been nothing short of embarrassing (honestly, the one at the weekend against Accrington was an absolute shocker).
Been making too many daft errors in recent weeks defensively so we just need one of the three central ones to be a no nonsense centre half who will just get blocks, tackles & headers in. The other 2 CBs who will play either side of him can take care of the passing side of the game.
Is this Batth the type of no nonsense centre half I described above? Good signing for us on paper if so.

The issue we were having is that the opposition were pressing both our wide centre halves and allowing Batth to bring the ball out at will and it killed all our momentum, if he can let the other two do all the fancy stuff he'll be absolutely perfect.......

Overall though I think he’ll be a good signing for a League One club.

Shocking business. Swapping, arguably, our most effective defender for a 40-year-old.
Jags won't be able to play 2 games a week and if he gets injured - we are in trouble defensively without Batth
What is it about this club and defenders, we just don't put any importance on them, have we not learned anything from our last few years in the prem.
