I’ll say one name that epitomises the likes of Chelsea having players so no one else can have them….Shaun Wright Phillips

He’s looking very, very good so far. Not that I hope we would, but I reckon we could make some profit on him quite easily.

Awful to think we signed Badou when he was around and may have been available 🙁.

I think he's our new talisman - a prince among men who should be worshipped and have every mistake erased from the history books...
But seriously...
Cracking player - carries himself well on the pitch, good technique, gets stuck in, rides the challenges and a proper team player. Captain material and one of the few we have who wouldn't look out of place in the Premiership.
Just going to build a shrine and light some candles...

When we were linked to him, I looked up his career record. Some looked on him as a journeyman but it seemed to me that we were getting a player with vast experience in many countries. If he could put that experience to good use in his first ever permanent move since joining Chelsea, then we could be getting a gem - better still we could be getting a gem for free! Thankfully what I hoped would happen has happened and I am pretty sure this is the best signing we have made since relegation and for two or three years before that. Hopefully he will push us to promotion and, if he does, there is a good chance he will stay for years to come, probably as a very influential club captain, midfield dynamo, free kick specialist and penalty taker - what's not to like?

Very refreshing to sign a player, particularly mid-season, who has hit the ground running. He's been excellent in every aspect of his play. Goals, free kicks, penalties, well delivered corners all in his locker. If he scores a penalty on Saturday, he'll be in the Club record books 🤞🏻

Never like to go overboard on a player who's only been here five minutes - we all remember Ryan Woods looking like Pirlo for his first couple of games, I even recall Gerry McMahon's first couple of games being very good - but early impressions are that he could be our best central midfielder since Nzonzi.

How long can we hold on to such a good player? There could be offers already this summer - and from clubs that could have gotten him for nothing. Now they'd have to pay several millions.

Amazing that you can sign a good player for free that makes a noticeable difference, highlights just how poor our recruitment has been in that department. Surely part of the job of working in football management and recruitment is to know a player when you see one.
It's surely not rocket science

I agree. He’s been excellent. The question will be, how long can he keep it up? If he is doing it because he feels he has a point to prove, when will that go away and will his performances drop? I hope not. I hope he drives us forward and continues to express himself on the field. It’s great to have someone who appears well-rounded on the field for a change!

Always the million dollar question. Hopefully, he's the real deal. He's been waiting a long time to show what he can do and now he has a permanent home to be able to do that.
