. Why is it? They can announce it at the time or nearer to it ,not 3 weeks before. No point in having it after 11th November. Therefore it should have been done yesterday like all the premier league clubs did . We are supposedly a premier league club . We will remember them .I had my father and ancestors who served in World Wars 1 and 2 and many died. We are a supposedly a premier legate club……because?

Poppy Police are out early this year aren't they? No policing required. Many feel the club should have done their commemoration last Saturday. Simple as that.

Poppy Police are out early this year aren't they? I’m all for Remembrance Sunday and will buy a poppy but the phrase “poppy shagger” tickled me when I saw it last year. This over the top festival of trying to out do your fellow poppy enthusiast seems utterly crass and against everything IMO it should stand for. It’s a massive shame for the campaign.

No policing required. Many feel the club should have done their commemoration last Saturday. Simple as that. Do many think that? Based on what? Based on £50 million taken in Poppy sales during 2020. Let me know if you need any further information.

Which doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on which day the club have their remembrance day or what you claim most think. In fact you've totally made that stat up.

It's embarrassing how angry people get over this. It's almost, what's the word "Woke"?.
We all can pay our respects in our own ways and no doubt we respect everyone who has sadly given their lives fighting for this country. Shaming people who don't share the same views or don't show it enough is almost akin to what we were fighting against in previous wars.
If Stoke had forgotten ( which they clearly haven't) i wouldn't be baying for blood. Stoke have shown many a time that they respect the Armed Services and those that have sadly fallen.
It's not a competition to show how much respect is shown. That just overshadows what the whole thing is about. I honestly think a minutes silence and a laying of a wreath is enough.

They may have to dip into their huge cash reserves this time around then.......... It’s not as simplistic as that. Charities are a strange industry to work in. They have to comply with many of the laws other business have to such as pensions for workers, H&S etc. All this costa money. it is very idealistic to assume that £1 in a pot means £1 to helping what ever good cause the charity supports. Good people cost more and it costs money to raise money. In the case of the RBL they do a lot of good, they have cut some services to concentrate resources on others and this will get some negative publicity depending on your perspective.

I’ve had personal dealings with the RBL over a couple of homeless veterans I’ve tried to help in Manchester, to say I was unimpressed with them as an organisation would be an understatement. To the point where I give my money to another, smaller charity who help ex-armed forces personnel on the streets instead now…….

i don't see the problem. The club will still post on social media on the day, they will have a minutes silence on the training ground, people can still pay their own respects how they want to

Like I said, made it up. And, by having it later the club is potentially boosting the income. There will be very few if any donation points after the Remeberance Sunday and therefore by doing it later it gives another opportunity for donations to be made on the day at points around the ground. Some (not many though) might even say this is a good thing.

Someone started a thread on the subject and many others have commented that in their opinion, the Club should have done their remembrance last Saturday, not on 20th November. What bit of that don't you get? This isn't 'Poppy Police', it's people with an opinion on something that they believe should have taken place. Don't turn your heating up too high - you'll melt.

No one mentioned 'poppy police' a term you've made up and somehow quoted.4 or 5 people on the thread is the many people you talk of...right.

I don't get why the club should be expected to do a Remembrance event. If we had a match on either 11th or Remembrance Sunday then yes. If we have an away match on that date presumably there'd be a minute's silence at that.
Personally I'll be observing my usual minute's silence on the Sunday whatever I'm doing (usually at work), to think about those who made that sacrifice for this country and those relatives I never had the chance to know. I don't need to be told to do it a footy match 2 weeks early.

As anyone who is upset contacted the club and asked why we did not have Poppy’s on our strip like most clubs did. Obviously they will get more publicity by having a go at the club and its supposed "slight" against our armed forces, on this message board than by writing a letter or email to the club and asking what the position is as regards 2021 commemorative poppy shirts. Such a letter or email might only be seen by a dozen club staff - that's hardly going to give them much of an increased profile is it? You really should try to understand how "click bait" works on Social media!
