Joey Barton and Clint Hill deserve a lot of credit. I saw Souttar a few times for Ross County and he just didn't look up to it. He came back from Fleetwood a different player. He's obviously a fast learner as he just keeps getting better

Hasn’t got a noticeable weakness has he? He can head the ball away all day but he also reads the game superbly when it’s on the deck, times his tackles to perfection, always in the right position and he can play a bit as well.
He could easily slot into the top teams in the PL. He’ll go eventually, he’s too good not to I just hope we can get a big fee for him when he does.

Colossus. There’s far more depth in the squad this year but he’s the one player we simply wouldn’t be able to cope without. He’s the best player in the division. Bold statement mate, but I haven't seen a better centre half yet, to be honest. You're right in saying that he is our rock though and he is in superb form. I liked the look of that Ajayi (tall lad at the back) for them tonight, he looked decent. Yeah he did until Fletcher came on and bullied him.

I thought Fletcher made us much better up front as soon as he was introduced.

A couple of years ago I could not have imagined what he would transform into. Some of his timing with nipping in for the ball reminds me of Rio Ferdinand or dare I say it Bobby Moore. Even when he is on his arse, which is often the sign of a beaten defender, he always gets the ball and is imperious. Either way next season I do believe he will be a Premier League footballer, I just hope it’s with us.

The lads born to play in the middle of back 3. I was quietly surprised Leicester went for Vestergard ahead of him as I thought he was a no brainer for them.

How are we gonna keep MON?

How are we gonna keep MON? Like Souttar I’m not overly convinced anyone much better will want him? He’s just not cool is he? Burnley if Dyche left. Celtic but meh, might as well go back to NI. I guess Villa went to a similar sort in Dean Smith but when they were in the Championship.

I can’t see the circumstances the club will want to sell him and I don’t think the player will be over anxious to move to anything but a top level PL team right now so I think all is good at least for this season. He will also be able to see what’s happened to Collins at Burnley following his big Prem move…not playing and largely forgotten

I think the expectation is he starts next season but what a waste especially given that he hasn’t played as much as he should have done with us either.

How are we gonna keep MON? What sort of move would be on for him? Another Championship club? Apart from the relegated clubs with parachute money there’s little other money around. A move from the more secure busom of the Coates family to the Prem is tricky. A desp club in Jan at the bottom…maybe Norwich is very risky. I’m not sure he’s sexy enough for other Prem clubs. He’d need to change his name to O’Sanchez.

I agree he's not sexy (at least, not until you get to know him) but I think it's fair to say he's now succeeded in every managerial job he's had.

I doubt we will keep him, unless we go up this season. I didnt want Collins to go but the money from his sale has no doubt helped this season. And I don't find myself saying if only we still had Collins every match. Don't get me wrong I still think Collins is a great player. If we go up then I think they will do everything to keep Souttar, and I would like to think he would stay if we went up. If we don't go up then he will be gone and good luck to him. Let's just hope the manager will spend the money as well as he has with the sale of Collins.

Love how Souttar plays.

I was a few years below Anthony Gardner in the Vale youth setup [spits] and always remember them giving him really intensive training on heading when he first broke through, simply because he never had to head the ball coming through the age groups as he was so much bigger than everyone else. It seemed to be an assumption that he could head the ball due to his height.

Promotion next two years or he’ll have to go If he continues to improve as he has done could well receive an offer we can't refuse. He's as good as Bould was in this division. Hopefully if he does go we won't be robbed like we were with Bould.

We either go up with him or he leaves for a lump sum. Would obviously rather the former, but the latter wouldn’t be all too bad.
He is absolutely brilliant, but good money should be accepted by the club. We don’t want another Butland situation.

And yeah it wasn’t a thing when watching him for the u18s but I watched 2/3 and it was the same thing every time, he’d get under the ball every time. And either miss it completely or head it backwards like a flick.

I’m amazed that Collins who missed the majority of last season went ahead of Souttar.

Why do stoke fans all ways look for negatives? It's a fact of life that footballers are ambitious and want to win. Unfortunately unless you are one of the big6 you will all ways have vultures circling your better players. It's been a while since we had a player making the headlines probably steino. My only hope is that he is happy here and enjoys playing for his manager so let's keep everything crossed and they both have a great season

Been saying this for weeks, he’s gone in January. Need to plan now. It would be good to get Collins back on loan as he’s not enjoying Burnley and not playing. Why speculate on something you clearly know fuck all about? You must be the most negative person on this board

However Stoke supposedly offered him a 10 year contract to stay but he supposedly refuesed, although I never believe that was real just Coates protecting himself. Soutar should be our first 50 mill player. ( if Swansea can ask for them numbers ect.)
