Didn't a team used to run out to The Rockford Files theme? My Dad's fave ever show
Edit....just found this . Knew had heard somewhere
Still, I hear you plead, what’s the link with Tranmere? Well, there are many theories, all of different quality. The common explanation is that Rovers played their home games on a Friday evening during that era, at the same time The Rockford Files was shown on TV. Many people interpreted it as a tongue-in-cheek reminder to fans that they could have been cosy at home, watching the box with a cup of cocoa rather than freezing their asses off in the Cowshed, sipping Bovril and watching the lowly Rochdale play some virtuoso stuff.

Blimey, he was in Maverick, surely too old for Championship football now though, let's hope we play our cards right!

The actor James Garner's real surname was Bumgarner. Factoid of the day 😄

70’s actor jokes aside…
Anyone got any nuggets / insight into him? The DM we need?
At a glance looks more like a deep mid playmaker / passer than an strong commanding interuptor but any extra decent bids around this part of the park is welcome for me.

Forest fans rated him. Looks like he played in a 4-2-3-1, alongside a proper defensively-minded player - so not sure how that would translate if he came here.
Given the competition, it would seem unlikely he'll end up here if there is Prem interest plus the chance of returning to the club he spent the second half of last season who would start him every week.
Sounds like MON thinks there's a chance though or he wouldn't be pursuing it

Sorry, but until this baby is seen cruising around Clayton Wood I’m not having any of it. Attachment Deleted

He seems like our usual sort in midfield then.
Which is annoying as he seems very good.

Did MON ever have a proper destroyer in his NI teams? He seems to have a curious aversion to them?

Meant to be very Michael Carrick-esque from what I hear. Would definitely be an improvement to the squad and has bags of potential. Think he would be a very good signing.

Very very good player, he will break into Man Utd's first team within the next couple of years.
As I mentioned on the other thread he could easily play for one of the lower league sides in the PL, he would be an incredible signing.

I only know him from last year’s football manager where he becomes a really good player for a top half Prem team.

I'd love to watch a central midfielder that can hold his shape and plug gaps. Cousins did it in the second half of his career here but we've had no one since Whelan circa 2016 that could do it.

Who's going to do the dirty work alongside him though - are we tasking Allen with that? Tbf to Joe, he’s done it surprisingly well in preseason, evident no use aerially but he’s been stopping opposition midfields from waltzing through like at times last season(season before). He’s fluffed his lines a few times though when it comes to him then trying to play it out so maybe Garner with him- seems he’s be a good shout for picking the ball up and starting the play? He’s just about 6 foot and does look rather light, would be good to have someone to help with aerial duels for when we come up against the Millwalls etc and teams go long.

Possibly Saville and Norwood to some degree too? Just looked at Saville - what the feck going on there? Signed for Millwall 16/17 for 500k went on loan to Middlesbrough start of 18/19 then was signed by Boro in Jan 19 for £7m!! And has this window just re-signed for Millwall for undisclosed fee???? That’s got dodgy dealings written all over it.
