Can someone explain why under the new stadium Code of Conduct bags are not allowed. What has this got to do with Covid. Is it because social distancing will mean we won’t have those pointless frisks at the turnstiles so bags cannot be searched. I really don’t think this has been thought through. You go to the club shop before the game but that’s a waste of time because if you buy anything you won’t be able to take it into the ground. ? What about those fans who travel some distance and carry a rucksack with some butties and a flask ? People with young children who have a bag with food and drink for them ? Absolutely ridiculous decision !!!

This can’t be true!
Are you sure it’s not relating one or more of these:
• (scum)bags • (hoe)bags • (eye)bags - don’t wanna add tired grouchies to the already naturally grouchy crowd • (dirt)bags • (bum)bags - well, this should just be a rule at every establishment.

Also what about people that visit the shop before the game, what are they supposed to do with their purchases?

Not acceptable in any form.
What about supporters who are diabetic and have to carry injection pens and emergency sugar products with them?
Sort it out.

It’s a typo, it’s ‘No old bags’. No one wants an old moaner ruining the game😂

I would’ve thought maybe it would have something to do with stewards having to conduct a bag search. Then again, makes no odds with regards to close contact if you’re still getting your biweekly Saturday afternoon frisk.

I presume it is down to the fact that the club (or the government?) doesn't feel that bag searches are a good idea. Of course a determined terrorist could easily conceal a weapon/IED under their clothing! Anyone know what the bag policy was at the recent T20 match at Old Trafford?

If the frisking is to continue why stop the bag inspection? And we are surely not going to stop security checks this would be a green light to terrorists or knobheads wanting to bring in flares etc.

A situation for Ange to sort out? Ange? Pointless asking the supporters council, they strike me as a bunch that would prefer more draconian measures in the ground, not less. Probably to the point where only they are allowed to attend matches.

I didn't say I approved of the "no bags" rule I'm just trying to suggest why they MIGHT have introduced it.

You are smarter than most of us!

It also forces more people onto our Super spreader concourses as they'll be forced to buy the brown liquid they claim is tea!

Might be different with that being classed as a “test event”?

We take a flask (I know, a bit racy) and security always has a cursory look in the bag which has snacks etc too and waves you through.
If you were a terrorist it would be very easy to smuggle something inside the flask and even the flask itself could be used as a weapon.
I suppose the very fact there is a search deters any trouble makers but it wouldn't stop a determined terriost.

Great idea, means the person who normally sits next to me doesn't jam a bag up against my leg. I'm all for it (joke).

They lied. I tried it with soup and a choc ice and it didn’t work! 😀

Hopefully something that will get more clarification sooner rather than later. If you take a look at other stadium policies (first 2 I found were Wembley and Brentford) they say similar, but expand on this to say that a small A4/A5 sized clear bag can be used.
