internationals have the same rules. they allow bags smaller than A4 (generally) Spurs charge £10 fir them to store your bag - an expensiveMistake on my part. The queue after the game took 40 minutes to retrieve said bag. I assume Stoke will have to have a facility to leave your bag if you’ve taken it to the game. Which will mean potentially a cost and/or waiting time to facilitate this. Not sure if you can still take a flask in without a bag or a box of sandwiches. Don’t see why people should have to spend money in the ground if they don’t want to.
i was told at the World Cup Final in moscow that the Six match programmed i’d bought fir the game from official sellers were too big to bring into the stadium 🙄
The club shop may have some challenges
people love change don’t we

Only aware of one concert , does that justify bans at sporting events? Richard Reid put a bomb in his shoe. Should we ban shoes?

Anyone banning bags from a stadium has clearly never taken a kid to a game.
'Dad I'm cold...'
Here, put your jumper on *gets jumper out of bag*
'Dad, I'm hungry...'
Here, eat these sweets *gets sweets from bag*
'Dad, the sweets have made me thirsty'
sigh *gets drink from bag*
'Daaaaad, I'm boooorrrred'
Here, play your Nintendo and shut the F up *Nintendo appears from bag*
'Daaaad, the batteries have run out.'
*puts bag over own head*

I’ve seen hundreds of pounds of beer and whole rows of people wiped out by inconsiderate oafs due to this .a practice started on crowded trains , that has now spread into footie grounds In all seriousness, its a serious change , especially those with genuine needs ..medical or kids ..clarification is required as a matter of urgency , not least regards carrier bags and especially those relating to shop purchases ..but TBH if it reduces the bag size and lack of consideration of others that’s crept in over recent years and gives me back some of my precious space then I applaud the change some of the above is said with a degree of tongue in cheek , but also contains a barb of truth too

Madness if true.
Was at Blackpool pleasure beach yesterday and my experience mirrors that of many others.
Bag on the table, quick search, allowed in once checked.
There is no justification for this surely?
If it’s COVID reasons, just make us do the ‘searching’.
Let’s face it, if you want you could conceal something under your clothes with ease.
This rule strikes me nothing more of absolute stupidity and a thorough lack of foresight.

Season ticket just arrived ..don’t panic if you’ve not got yours 🙂
One surprise , especially as it’s been sometime since people went the Bet365 ( excluding the U23s game ) , and the ground regs have been updated ( re bags ) and covid charter published since last there , I was expecting the club to include copies of those with the ST , helping both communication of the message ( not everyone visits here or the official site ) ..and to cover the legal technical bit of being informed and not least to counteract, reduce the ( genuine or not ) I didn’t know argument
That being said , today & the ST arriving ..fingers crossed football really is starting to look like it’s coming home ..or at least the fans are ..let’s hope we don’t get beat at the final hurdle
Enjoy the game

My experience of searches at the game in the last half dozen or so seasons has been comical… guy asks you to put your arms up, he wafts his hands loosely in the direction of your outstretched arms to make it vaguely look like he gives a shit, and in you go.
I could have concealed a machete and it wouldn’t have been found. In fact I’d imagine if i’d have said ‘ok bringing a massive blade in mate?’ half the time they’d have just shrugged or looked at me blankly.

Seems to follow no logic?
Like going from cash only to cashless.
You’re just cutting your nose off to spite your face. Both should be an option.

For the life of me I really don't understand the no cash policy. No it makes no sense. I could understand having cashless only kiosks as it should be quicker but you still need the option. Like you could have carts outside with a card reader only selling bottled drinks. Promotes better covid practise, quick and easy to tap and should lead to more sales. But you need cash too for people that just want to use that. Got to be a balance.

Absolutely ridiculous to say you can’t bring a bag. Hopefully the rule is scrapped, as it wasn’t enforced today.

Was it not enforced because they have changed the rules or was it not enforced because they haven't told the Security company, or is it because the security company haven't told any or some of their staff?
What price on people turning up next week with bags to be turned away at the gates?

People with kids pretty much have to take a bag. Hopefully it will be but I wouldn't be surprised to see the club shop produce clear plastic bags which you will only be allowed to take into the stadium if it contains contents purchased at the club shop. It does beg the question though, that if a thousand people turn up with their own bags, are the club really going to turn every one of them away?

What you’re all forgetting is that the normal rules of common sense don’t apply when dealing with football fans (especially Stoke fans).
The best is the frisking of fans when entering the stadium. We seemed to cope beforehand for years without a problem so the only reason I can think it’s done is to stop potential terror attacks. The terrorists must not have figured that they could attack all the poor fuckers stood outside the ground queuing to get searched, sneak in during half time during the fag break or have a field day when thousands leave the ground at the same time.
I swear we’re getting closer to being led by General Melchett as each year goes by!

Sound. I agree on the no bags policy. It’s become too much.
When you’ve got half a dozen people in front of you with bags needing to be searched and it’s pissing with rain. It’s just rude. All so you can take a flask and sandwiches. You’re at the football for a couple of hours not a pissing picnic!

It has taken me so relatively long as I was stuck for words. And that does not happen too often!
I can assure the odd supporter who agrees with this crackpot notion that you would not, if you had a 350 mile return journey to negotiate.
Too absurd to discuss.
