I agree he has improved from the very cautious/ don't want to make any mistakes player, he was as a youngster. He is going to go for a massive fee and be paid millions, for no other reason than he is a solid 7 out of 10 in the premier League, week in week out . I can't fault him, he is a solid player who rarely makes mistakes but I do find him dull to watch , compared to Jude Bellingham, James ward prowse and Billy Gilmour. He just has less quality and vision on the ball than those guys . I would like to see ward prowse and Bellingham in midfield for England, because they are so good on the ball,we would score more goals . But it won't happen. Southgate will go for Rice = less goals conceded all day long . Be interesting if west ham, sell Rice and sign ward prowse and improve though. How's Southgate going to get out of that one ! Might well happen and we will see ? By that logic, that Southgate is a negative manager positive manager like Pep will drop his pursuit of Rice and go for Ward Prowse? No? Rice is a good player, 8/10 every week not 7 I like JWP should be in England squad but every decent manager would pick Rice

JWP scores some good free kicks but besides that is he really that good? Don’t think he makes any of the top 8 starting 11. If you’d rather Billy Gilmour in your team that Declan Rice then that’s a bit worrying.

Good lord, Aluko comes out with some nonsense! 🤦♂️ This is one of the most cringeworthingly stupid things I think I’ve ever heard from somebody employed in sports broadcasting. And that is saying an awful lot.

Always a shame when a likeable player joins Arsenal. theathletic.com/4644467/2023/06/27/declan-rice-arsenal-transfer-news/Arsenal have made an improved bid worth up to £105million for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. The offer, which Arsenal hope will fend off rivals Manchester City, comprises an initial fee of £100m and an extra £5m in add-ons. It will be a Premier League record fee for a British player if the move materialises.

You’d think Rice would want to be going to Man City. The reporting seems to be that he'd prefer Arsenal - must want to stay in London?

He won the Conference League sure (which is basically the Euro equivalent of the Papa Johns Trophy), but by the chairman’s own admission they’ve had a dreadful season compared to last.

I'd go balls deep for lukaku. They've been a massive striker short for years and a decent centre back they'd be well on there way.

Also think Kalvin Phillips would be a perfect replacement for Rice, although knowing Pep he’ll drop Rodri a month into the new season and Phillips will suddenly turn into Makelele!

Puts Moyes under massive pressure this does. Fair play to Rice, he’s a likeable fella and a cracking footballer. It can only be good for England

Bit on the flipside don’t we need more “diving cheating wetwipes” in order to win a tournament?

Ludicrous money really. Man City have done a good job pushing the bid up for a player that they probably had no interest in buying.

Ludicrous money really. Man City have done a good job pushing the bid up for a player that they probably had no interest in buying. Good move by Arteta calling his mate Pep and asking him to put in a bid, which then forced the Arsenal boards hand in hurrying up and offering that 100m asking price. This stuff goes on all the time...apparently.

And they've spunked 65 million on the Chelsea 'striker'!
I hope this doesn't come back to bite me on the Arse, and it does the Arse, but clucking bell!

I guess FFP doesn't apply to Arsenal?
Spent some money over these past two years.
Zinchenko Jesus Rice Timber Haivertz
Can't be any change there from 250 million..Yet barely a word mentioned.

Top player to be fair. I didn’t get the hype until the combo of the Euros and World Cup, but he’s excellent defensively and strides forward like N’Zonzi on the ball. Likeable guy too.

Doesn’t seem to apply to most of the PL. Look at Man City, 25 of their 115 charges are for profit and sustainability yet they still bid £90m for Rice 🤷♂️
