Stoke, as not only do you get to celebrate the promotion, but you get at least a full season of top level football to watch. Not to mention the financial benefits for the club.

England winning a major tournament for me.
Stoke have won a handful of promotions in my lifetime where my country have won nothing. So, it would be nice to have that experience

So, it would be nice to have that experience It’s a good point and it’d be just our luck to win a tournament in the middle of this shite when hardly anybody is there to celebrate it. In fact I would love it if we won(Kevin Keegan) and the whole country sent a massive fuck you to Boris and Sage and just went on a week long mental

Stoke to get promoted 100% But as they are not in any way connected - I am hoping expecting for both to happen in the next 10 months.

No contest. Stoke to win any game holds sway. Patriotism and nationalism is about the love of a land and land is turf. The love of Stoke permeates every sinew, flows through every vein. No such thing as a second team, even an international one. Born in England, family come from wales, wife comes from Northern Ireland.!I look out for any of our players who represent their national team at any level. I remember watching Clarkie and Super James so Connor in an under 20s tournament on Eurosport. They might have been representing their country, but to me, they were representing our club. So, if England do well.. great, but if Joe Allen does well for Wales and Adam Davies ( by some unlikely events) gets a game, even better. The Euros will be over in a month. We will always be Stoke this month, next month, every month

England to win the Euros.
I’ve seen Stoke get promoted before, and probably will again. I’ve always wanted to see England win a major tournament, it would be a fucking mint day if they won this one.
I really don’t get the “Stoke to win a friendly over England winning the World Cup” brigade. Absolute bullshit, from people who think it’s some sort of badge of honour.

A conversation I had with a few other Stoke/football fans and quite a few would choose England winning the Euros - not me though- Stoke promotion all day long for me. Which would you choose? Gouranga. Not even a question for me. Edit; just to clarify Stoke to get promoted of course.

Sadly Stoke win feck all. If it was a competition to win a badge we would get as far as the semi final before losing the badge. Good luck to England, good luck to Wales and whilst I have no link to Scotland, good luck to them. I don’t purport or profess to care about our club more than anyone or anybody, I just care more about Stoke than England. No badge, no wall pissing contest. Vivre la difference, oh shit I love France now, but only when Stephen Nzonzi played🤣

Both That’s the trouble with Stoke fans it has to be one or the other No it doesn't it's just a hypothetical question, in all probability neither will happen I'd love it if both were to happen - but just as a bit of fun if you could choose which one would it be? I'll always choose Stoke over any other team. Gouranga. You say it's just a bit of harmless fun but there's regularly a surreptitious hint of people boasting about what a big Stokie it makes them.

My general happiness would be improved more if Stoke get promoted to be honest. I find England difficult to watch and I am never impressed. We should have won euro 96 that was our big chance and goes down in my memory with the finest goal... Gazza dentists chair celebration. I don't care much for the current crop of England players.

Despite its reduced status in recent years, would sooner Stoke win the FA Cup rather than promotion. Think those Arsenal games in the early 70s left me scarred for life.
Stoke promotion or England winning World Cup? Probably England.
Stoke promotion or England winning Euros? Probably Stoke.

I think people are more connected to their clubs for a whole host of reasons, so when it comes to which option you’d prefer, then the club will usually come out on top even though everyone would, obviously, want both to happen.
I don’t understand why the ‘this is the problem with Stoke fans’ slant on things is raised - It’s a reasonable enough question and surely the outcome would be the same with any club’s fans. Not only that, but I’m assuming the OP is also an England fan, so can we say ‘this is the trouble with England fans, too’?
Also, the benefits of gaining promotion far outweigh those of winning one tournament.
For the record, I’m a Stoke and England fan and I want both to happen, but to answer the question, Stoke every time.

Be good for England to do well, for the mood and economy of the country if nothing else. It's not even close though when it comes to England or Stoke. I remember laughing when we were knocked out to Iceland and I couldn't really have given a toss. Stoke games have the annoying ability to dictate my mood in a way England never could... I've been a miserable bastard for a couple years now

Never understood this
Stoke is life, it's who we are, our identity
England / international football is just an excursion - it doesn't define you in the way your club does and it's ultimately superficial fluff.
We are all different but anyone saying England over Stoke on a Stoke message board is, IMHO, a weirdo.
😀😀😉🤣🤣

it's a close call for me... Love to see england win something but I'll go with Stoke mainly because i just know that if England win it somehow our fucking useless politicians will a) get tickets to the final and b) bask in the reflected glory.

Gouranga. I decided to have another go as I am not English. Stoke to win Promotion or South Africa to win the Rugby World Cup? Hmmmm, <smell of burning rubber as he thinks> Difficult one, I'm going to have to go for Stoke! It's getting a bit boring beating England in the RWC final.

This got me thinking. When I am asked my nationality I will always say British rather than English, yet I don't think I would be very happy to see Scotland or Wales outdo England at the Euros. I will certainly be routing for England on Friday and had a quiet chuckle at Scotland today. At the same time I would probably plump for Stoke over England if I had to choose. Maybe my true nationality is Stokie? I now put my nationality down as European.

In my lifetime, on average Stoke get promoted about once a decade, England win a major tournament once every 6 decades. So I can choose England to win Euros in the reasonable expectation that Stoke will get promoted at least a couple more times before I shuffle off this mortal coil (assuming I avoid life-shortening accidents/incidents/illness of course).
