OK, must be some sort of rule that we can only sign strikers over 30? It's just worrying.

manager who has got two different cubs promoted thinks he isn't good enough for them a true warning light add that to Weimann and we are linked with two players who are either inured , over 30 and off the back of a crap season or all three . Will we ever learn Fletcher him and Vokes might only 30 games between them of votes can actually still move

Would be a really underwhelming signing. Doesn't seem a particularly great guy either.

He's a Tory.
If he signs can we let Momo back? 😀

Geographically a swap with Vokes.

Geographically a swap with Vokes. Could Notts County afford him in the Conference? Could he do a job for Mansfield? Surely Rooney isn't stupid enough? Gregory a much better bet for them you'd think.

Quite like Lyle Taylor and have no prob us signing him. Thought was a lot younger also I guess you’ve read what Chrissy Houghton has said about him. Read it! Didn't really say much other than he had different choices and was his decision who to play- usual fluff of saying nothing by saying something, which is what MON trots out about Vokes. Ultimately didn't work at Forest and needs a reboot, could work out somewhere else or not, but I would rather take that chance if it was between trying to revive Vokes v revive Taylor...

Agree, he looked useful at Charlton but I was surprised at his age, 31, always thought he was younger. He used to be

Which footballer sounds like a sugar manufacturer? Archie McSilverspoon. Plays for Hibs. James Beety or Harry Cane

It would be a strange one, seems to be outside the age range we are supposedly targetting, in fact so does Weimman.

We might as well keep Gregory I'm struggling to see what he'd offer that Gregory wouldn't. You could argue that Gregory's CV is better. The only thing Taylor's got going for him is he's 18 months younger. But is Taylor more pace-reliant? And he won't have that for much longer

I know we’re going to be linked with crap, that’s fine. But this one just doesn’t seem to have any redeeming feature.

If we sign this bloke you can see we're still not learning any lessons. I hope to god its just bullshit.

Try and offload Gregory and Vokes, replace with Taylor and you have two experienced lads in Fletcher and Taylor and two young lads in Campbell and Norton with a good blend of attributes amongst them. Chuck in Brown too who can cover a number of positions.

Possibly slightly. Maybe not massively so though. He was a relatively sought-after Bosman this time last year (Sentinel say we were one of the teams after him) and he's got 2 yrs left on that deal signed before Covid decimated the market. Wouldn't think he'll be on massively less than 20k and he won't leave for anything substantially lower Obviously we'd all rather have him than Vokes, but it's not an either/or, is it? We can have neither!

We can have neither! We can but I doubt there is much choice around for a club like ours in the current FFP climate, to go for much of a different option. What are you looking at in terms of cheaper options? I don't know the market obviously but I doubt you'd get better FFP value going for a Dion Charles for example, who would probably be out of our range given where we are. Other than that you are looking at a kid from a PL club on loan. Here with Taylor you are getting someone who has hit a fair share of goals, is younger than Fletcher (who will probably moved on next year) who can be the senior, experienced striker going into next year when things start to ease without too much disruption. Makes perfect sense to me.

I would have genuinely been excited by this news 4 or 5 years ago. I had a mate who was a Wimbeldon Fan and he used to rave about him. I saw him a couple of times when AFC were playing close to us (Cardiff in the cup, Newport, etc) and he was clearly talented -had pace etc. That was before the Championship moves and 31....wow that makes me feel old Looking at his subsequent stats, seems to have 'found his level' at mid table Championship clubs.
This signing would to me be reminiscent of Rowett's 'Champo royalty' underwhelmers, AKA Ice/AFobe etc etc.
