Looks like he's been arrested. Not only are the Steven Speilberg twats toothless, they are a bunch of grasses. How can you claim being a victim when you've clearly provoked somebody? That's how the law works mate. Despite what you might like to do at times you can't just twat someone who calls you a name. The provocation angle might be relevant in mitigation.

Supposedly, the guy he attacked was 21 - saw him arguing with a girl and 'being very aggressive', to which he said "calm down mate, it can't be any worse than being relegated".
Lots of people on here suggesting they MUST have deserved it, which from the evidence we have is a relatively baseless claim. I can understand his frustration but is a tongue-in-cheek comment really worth attacking someone?! Particularly when you have his profile...
Surely you just ignore it, or give them a bit of banter back. Show them your bank balance.
Personally I think McBurnie comes across as a complete prick. He's a bang average footballer that has shown on multiple occasions that he's incredibly immature and still thinks he's one of the boys.

Of course I understand what you’re saying about the law but a bit of self-awareness is needed. Says a lot about the person when they can’t hold their hands up and instead seek further retribution.

I don’t particularly like McBurnie either and I don’t personally condone violently attacking someone. It’s the culture of instantly getting your phone out and videoing I hate. There’s plenty of CCTV around to capture crimes.

There’s plenty of CCTV around to capture crimes. Agree wholeheartedly. I hate phone culture full stop (particularly in relation to filming someone in need of help, rather than helping). In this instance though it's certainly the lesser of two evils and McBurnie was in the wrong. I think it would be a stretch to say he was provoked if it's true that he's simply reacted badly to jibing over being relegated, particularly if he was being aggressive to the girl he was with - as the guy he's hit is claiming.

I haven't listened to the audio. Saw how shite the video was and didn't bother. And you're right no twatting was involved that I could see. I was just expanding on the theme. I agree with you as it happens about the victim culture in instances like this. Having said you can't twat someone with impunity I'd be tempted to do it myself in certain circumstances and face the consequences. Oh yeah and McBurnie comes across as a complete weapon.

One theory about football is that it allows people to behave in ways as fans that they would not do in the street. A little like the Purge!
If that is the case then any 'banter' should end outside of the stadia
McBurney should not have bit, but that tool should not have gone angling either
Both will regret it
It looks like 2 separate incidents too

Now I look at the news and there's kids killing each other every other day. Something isn't working.

Wez, do you actually know the full facts of what happened here, or are you basing it on your presumption of what you believed must have happened?
Only asking due to the fact that virtually EVERY time there's a thread slagging off a footballer for things that have been alleged, you are ALWAYS the first to tell people they have no right to be making judgments just based on bits they've seen/heard in the media and how people should know the full facts BEFORE casting judgment.
Must admit, very disappointed that you're being so hypocritical on this matter, especially to see you condoning anyone assaulting a child. Really disappointing to be honest.
By the way, even if they were abusing him verbally, does that automatically equate to them being "utter scum terrorising neighbourhoods"? I don't think you have any proof whatsoever of that mate, that's a huge leap you've somehow seen as an automatic conclusion. Really worrying.
As you usually say about other people on threads "Nice to see the Oatcake jury out in full force before they know the full facts". Must admit, never thought i'd be directing that at you.

Hang on Wez....people who goad others and people who "terrorise neighbourhoods" are not interchangeable terms. You can't presume someone who does one automatically does the other. To be honest, if the kids "terrorising" the streets were simply people saying things that aren't nice on mobile phones, i really don't think many people would be that worried or scared of them. You're seemingly intnetionally grouping these things together as if they're the same just to justify your position "Oh, he's got a phone and is saying nasty things to someone, therefore must be as scumbag, i should beat him up as he obvipously must also have a knife...probably...or something". Kids tryint to act nig in front of their mates isn't new, it happened when i was a kid and when you were a kid. I'm pretty sure that in neither of those times (certainly not when i was growing up anyway), it would be deemed acceptable to just beat a kid up basically because they annoyed you,,,they didn't do anything to you physically or your girlfriend physically, just said some nasty things.
When we (as parents) talk to our kids about people who say nasty things to them, don't most parents teach their kids to tell the relevant authorities (teachers for instance) or ignore them? But now you're saying that grown adults can simply twat kids whenever they want, just for saying nasty things (which is all we know happened, you decidinig he's scum, "terrotrising the streets" is simply stuff you've made up and have no proof of whatsoever).
You don't know the facts, you don't know what's happened (apart from bits from media tittle tattle and social media) yet are happy to condone beating up kids anyway? I don't think you can expect anyone to take you seriously or give you any credence the next time you tell people not to lay into a footballer whenhever he's next been alleged to have assaulted anyone/ raped anyone/ been drink driving. You've kinda lost that ability now due to this massive hypocrisy on your part.
As i said, incredibly disappointing to see this from you Wez.

There should be no debate here, if you poke someone and they kick your face in then that's on you, no-one else.

I'm not sure how I'd react in that situation. I'd either flash my rolex at him and flick him the bird, or punch his teeth down his throat.
Either way, as a footballer I'd get slaughtered.
