Seriously? Better than Lulu? Most definitely Felonious. Not often we've differed on music but i think we've found one there.

I take it you mean The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts? Ffs, it’s not rocket science. Thanks for correcting me, I genuinely always thought it was the Space Centre. Was looking forward to Whitney being honoured there..." Houston...We have a ( drug ) problem. Don’t feel so bad, my fave production manager there gets about four calls a year asking when the next launch is.

The original by Bob Dylan. Hendrix version has to be one of the greatest intros ever. Every Jimi cover improves Bob Dylan - even Dylan would agree. Like A Rolling Stone Drifters Escape Would You Please Come Crawl Out Your Window, But Watchtower is the epitome of a cover improving the original.

Joe Cocker's version of 'With a little help from my friends' has to be up there. Pisses all over The Beatles original (and other covers) and takes the song in a different direction The Beatles were unique in that most of their singles were not on LPs but have since ended up on compilations such as the two past masters. Not many of their singles have been covered better but a few b-sides and album tracks have

Slightly different but not worth its own thread I don’t think.
Same songs you like as much as each other.
For me, two that stand out are Girls Talk,Nick Lowe and Elvis C and Our Lips are sealed by The fun Boy3 and The GoGos.

Dropping very much into the Cover songs (that you personally like) better than the original is my favourite female artist of all time, the erstwhile Mrs Plant

Mott the Hoople, first of all, do a cover version that is sufficiently different and put their own inimitable mark on it. Secondly, it’s actually clearly better than the original, no less topping Ziggy era Bowie (much to his frustration). It was also a great catalyst for the band as there is MTH before Dudes, and MTH after Dudes.

Well if you start from the premis that the original was shite The Fountains Of Waynes version of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' was a definite improvement.
Placebo's version of Johnny and Mary is better than Robert Palmer's though the jury's still out on the Alexander Armstrong version of 'Golden Brown'
