I suppose that depends if next season gets wrecked by injuries as well. If not then look on the bright side, he’ll get sacked and you’ll have a new manger to moan your bollocks off about. Happy days for you 👍 Just asked a question, no need to get personal. It wasn’t a personal response in the slightest.

Since Campbell got injured and went off 21 points from 21 league games Proves how vital he Campbell and how hard he is to replace, if we had lost Fuller in the promotion season or the first premier league season we'd have suffered a similar poor run of results. Spot on mate, not only does he finish well but he stretches the game which creates more space

You have to look at the bigger picture imo. He was brought into firstly avoid relegation which he did with ease in the end. He’s clearly here for the long haul and had it not been for a run of injuries to key players and a thin squad of decent back ups we would be probably in a play off position. Looking back and saying we shouldn’t have sent gregory on loan is pure hind sight given the poor form of Vokes and the fragility of Fletcher. I really hope that he now gives the lads coming through from u23 squad a decent run in the last few games.

Putting yourself in the manager's shoes and a 3 page thread arguing about who is the shittest out of :-
• Brown • Gregory • Vokes
Is like being in prison and allowed 30 minutes of TV a week, the choices being:-
• Mrs Brown's Boys • Miranda • Michael McIntyre's rang the wrong number

Sounds like you think you are going to be proved wrong to me, I think you may well be correct I will bookmark this thread and return to it when the season is over, he might be shit but I have a feeling the stats will be prove he's not as shit as the options we have and have been playing, if he has stayed here and the manger still insisted on selecting Vokes over him then he should be sacked. His stats already mean that he's won the race by your barometer. I've said that 3 times already so I'm not sure where you are getting your "sounds like you think you are going to be proved wrong" from. Gregory will have better stats than Brown and Vokes come the end of the season irrespective of whether you take it over the season or for the duration of his loan spell. All 3 are toss and having 1 instead of the other would make absolutely no position to our goals for column, overall league position or style of play. We won't know until the end of the season Vokes could suddenly find scintillating form and an actual desire to play for the club oh well perhaps not then, yep sounds like you have given up you should have faith in your judgement, I think he will have better stats than both because he is a better striker simple as that, goals win games which gains points the more you score the more you win the better the league position it isn't rocket science

Lee Gregory £12,000 £624,000 31 Jacob Brown £13,000 £676,000 22 Sam Vokes £33,000 £1,716,000 30
£12k for Gregory? Millwall offered him more than that & he signed for us for more still Millwall offered him a one year contract.

1. He’s got no choice due to injuries 2. He’s got no choice due to injuries 3. Gregory is crap and no better than Brown. It was a cost cutting exercise and probably not even his decision. I would rather play Gregory than Brown. I agree, but financially Brown is probably proving the better option

Gudjon was arguably a lucky boy to be fair, after that Walsall game I'd have happily seen him shot out of a cannon into the heart of the sun. true however it does show the value of sticking with a manager the season after when we won the play offs we we're top on New Years Day bu then had the worst injury crisis I can recall & ended up in play offs O'Neill has already proven he's a good manager with NI & proved it again last season with Stoke getting rid of the expensive bad players/players who don't want to be here Vokes,Ince,Afobe,N'Diaye,Etebo,Bauer,Wimmer,Woods,Bruno will be very difficult & probably not achievable by any manager other players Gregory,Lyndsey should be easier as they are not paid as well & don't appear to be off the field problems last thing we need is another manager to start this fucking process again Don't think it's always a good idea to stick with a manager - we've shown that ourselves in recent years. There has to be reason to. Don't see any benefit at all to getting rid of MON though, we're bang in the middle of a rebuilding job and the stability he's brought, boring and frustratingly conservative that it can be at times, is valuable and something we can ill afford to lose again.

£12k for Gregory? Millwall offered him more than that & he signed for us for more still Millwall offered him a one year contract. they still offered him more than £12k he's on way more than that given he's crap, can't be any argument there, it makes sense to get him out of the door when deal has been offered if anyone comes in for Vokes & offers to take him on loan with even just a small percentage of his wages paid then we will jump at that however can't imagine who will come in for him maybe Pulis will get another gig somewhere & will take him, his kind of player maybe Nathan Jones will he bought him & we all know he's bonkers (why else take Ince?) otherwise we are probably stuck with him

In my Stoke supporting life I can only think of Stein, Sheron, Fuller and Arnie who have done the same as Campbell was starting to do. Thorney was a great striker but not the same as those guys.

He might be useless but he is a better option than Vokes or Brown in my opinion. Someone was prepared to take Gregory off our wage bill which meant it was a no brainer. The penny might drop at some point fella.......

IMO it's not so much a goalscorer that's needed as a more durable lone striker - get that right and the goals will come from somewhere. Bit concerned that he's not sure of his midfield make-up, ideally would like to rip it all up and start again there. That might be the bit that takes the longest to get right.

You don't even have to look that far or that far back. Just down the road at the Custard Bowl, Wolves had 17pts from 10 games (and were 6th) when Jiminez suffered his fractured skull. Since then they have played another 19 games and picked up 18 points and the 2 "strikers" used to replace Jiminez have managed 2 goals between them.

Of the 3 players we are talking about, I'd say there is next to nothing between Gregory and Brown and both of them are better options than Vokes. However, that doesn't make any of them good. All 3 are shit. Had we kept Gregory and got rid of Vokes our league position wouldn't be any different. Had we kept Gregory and got rid of Brown, still nothing changes. Goals clearly win points but none of them score enough goals to get us enough points to make us good. With Gregory as a regular we were staring down the barrel of relegation. With Vokes being used, we are in a run of form that would see us staring down the barrel of relegation. My point is keeping Gregory in January changes absolutely nothing. We'd still be shit. We'd still be struggling to score goals. It would still be better to watch paint dry than watch us play. If he happens to score a goal or 2 more over the course of a season who cares. Whatever total he ends up with, it will still be crap. We need to find a way of getting rid of these lousy players. If this move to Derby paves the way for a permanent move there or elsewhere, then happiest of happy days. This board was engaged in similar conversations this time last year. Scott Hogan was also a useless tosser who was very correctly dispensed of at the first opportunity.
