How? Allen has played 161 games for us. If he had played 17 like Wimmer I would be far happier with him. Well Imbula has only played 26 games, so by your own theory Allen is out worse ever signing? No. Imbula signing fucked the balance of the side up just like Allen did. And actually probably led to thinking we needed someone like Allen to cover his arse.

It still beggars belief that there are people out there who don't recognise the value of Joe Allen to the team at Stoke. A vast asset who covers over 12kms in every game and plays a valuable role in linking play. Not even quite yet up to full match fitness after a serious injury. One of the best players in the Championship. There again we seem to have a certain amount of people who do not think MON is a good manager?????? Amazing!!!! You need to find an athletics track to watch running around not a football match. Ridiculous comment! In today's game the modern footballer has to be an athlete too whether it involves aerobic or anaerobic work plus the ability to jump.

I don't find 12klm per 90mins particularly impressive either would of thought it pretty average.

It is made up of a wide range of changes in pace, physical battles, changes of direction and other key factors.

Since Joe Allen signed for Stoke City:-
Stoke City's win % with Joe Allen in the team = 22%
Stoke City's win % with Joe Allen not in the team = 45%
Case closed.

The Onlooker is spot on about Norwich’s form in their last 3 league games and not having scored in any of them .Just like at our place when Buendia got sent off they seemed to not be as effective without him and he’s been suspended again for their last 2 games also.Unfortunately he’s back next Saturday so it’ll be a tougher task with him back.I’ve watched their home games against Derby and Middlesbrough this season and there’s nothing to be frightened of although they do have some top players on their day. I’m sure O’Neill will be working on good organisation in training this week and I’m pretty sure he’ll play a back 5 also Gunn Smith Collins Souttar Chester Fox Mikel Allen Powell Fletcher Clarke or McClean

"Fletcher and Powell have only played at least a half together eight times so far this season – and Stoke have won four and drawn three of those games, scoring 14"

Gunn Smith Collins Souttar Fox Mikel Cousins Clarke Powell Matondo Fletcher This but with Davies in the nets, Gunn just looks totally nervous, even more than Bursik did in his first couple of games.

Have to say that Gunn doesn't really convince me. We got a farcical situation whereby we are paying somebody else for their keeper, whilst we have our former number 1, fit and not in the match day squad☹️

In any given run of games, 4:3:3 will get you two draws. 4:2:3:1 will get you a win, draw and defeat. That’s double the points tally, so....
Bursik Collins Souttar Chester Fox Thompson Mikel Clucas Powell Matondo Fletcher

One thing is for sure, O’Neil will love this type of game. Going into it as the clear underdog with very little expectation from anyone.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we shithoused a result like the West Brom game last season.

Shithoused🤔we defended excellently at WBA last season and offered a threat until Campbell went off.The majority of teams going to Norwich will sit behind the ball and try and hit them on the break,I watched Derby do exactly the same to them there earlier in the season.Lets hope we can do the same today

I remember Gregory missing a decent chance late on but other than that we were happy to sit on our goal. I would expect Norwich to have most of the ball, I just hope we offer a genuine threat on the break. Something we haven’t been very good at.

Nice to see this thread moving along, and finally some evidence of actual interest in the weekly match. There's even a mention or two of Stoke City as well!

Thats how most teams win away usually if they go a goal up early on and if you think that’s shithousing a win we’ve won hundreds of games like that over the years with various managers. Norwich away under Rowett won 1-0 under the cosh for nearly all the game after an own goal for us 1st half Promotion season under Pulis at Norwich under the cosh then a late winner from a long throw after never ever threatening. Butland absolutely magnificent at Norwich under Hughes in the prem so it’s nothing new for us and in general in football
